Summary
The Medical Director for the inpatient and outpatient services at Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Centers is an exceptionally important role not only for our service but also for the hospital since the hematology/oncology service is one of the largest clinical services in the hospital. Of note, the scope of this role includes TCH Main Campus, Katy Campus, The Woodlands Campus, and Vannie Cook in McAllen,TX.
The Medical Director will focus on staying updated with relevant clinical, research and professional education knowledge/information to ensure the program's goals are met. This position will work closely with our Nursing Director, to increase the safety, efficiency, and patient satisfaction associated with all inpatient and outpatient programs, including the bone marrow transplant service. These initiatives are tremendous in scope and complexity and require tremendous planning, communication, and collaboration both internally and across numerous departments and services across the hospital. In addition, the Medical Director is responsible for overseeing the space transitions, developing, and implementing new staffing models that will include more advanced care providers and improve the patient care experience and overall patient safety.
In summary, the Medical Director will work closely with Dr. Blaney, Director of Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Centers, as well as with his nursing and administrative partners to ensure that the activities of the program are directed towards accomplishing the mission and vision of Texas Children's Hospital.
Minimum Qualifications
- M.D. or equivalent degree.
- Board certified or board eligible for Pediatric Hematology-Oncology boards.
- Prior to employment start date must obtain Texas Medical License and Drug Enforcement Administration registration.
