Position Overview
The pharmacist Informatics analyst at OCHIN is a pharmacy trained clinician responsible for providing clinical consultation on the design, development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement, of clinical and health IT systems, including Electronic Health Records (EHRs), Telehealth, Mobile Health, and other HIT systems. This role includes duties of complex configurations to support the Epic applications within the Epic electronic health record (EHR) software for our member hospitals and clinics, primarily focused on the implementation, optimization, and maintenance of Epic Willow pharmacy system. This role requires a strong understanding of pharmacy operations and workflows, as well as the technical capabilities of the Epic Willow system. Collaboration with members and internal staff is a key part of this role to provide solutions that offer accurate, secure, and efficient workflows, with a focus on quality outcomes for our member organizations.
Essential Duties
- Collaborate with clinical leadership team on strategy and operations.
- Provide leadership within the clinical informatics team in areas of clinical subject matter expertise, with special emphasis on acute care and pharmacy.
- Provide clinical informatics consultation internally at OCHIN.
o Review clinical questions via incident management system (JIRA)
o Ad hoc consultation on additional OCHIN Epic build or maintenance projects.
o Analysis of clinical EHR break/fix issues as needed.
- Participate in member engagement.
o Prepare for and present at Clinical Operations Review Committee (CORC) and Clinical Oversight Group (COG) meetings.
o Ad hoc consultation.
o Learning Forum – OCHIN’s annual user group meeting.
o Provide mentorship to provider builders at member organizations.
o Provide support to new members before, during, and after install.
- Perform complex build and configuration in Epic and related products.
o Collaborating with pharmacy and clinical teams to identify opportunities for optimizing pharmacy operations through the
use of the Epic Willow system.
o Configuring and testing the Epic Willow system to support pharmacy workflows and ensure compliance with regulatory
requirements.
o Developing and maintaining system documentation, including policies and procedures, user manuals, and training
Materials.
o Providing training and support to pharmacy staff on the use of the Epic Willow system.
o Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to the Epic Willow system.
o Analyzing data and generating reports to support pharmacy operations and decision-making.
o Staying up to date on changes to pharmacy regulations and best practices and ensuring the Epic Willow system remains
compliant.
o Lead working sessions with OCHIN members to resolve advanced and complex integration work orders.
o QA complex builds, Quarterly Update (SU) modifications, and other work orders.
o Collaborate with members from other OCHIN teams to address integration issues.
o Provide elbow support to clinic staff during Go-Lives and Dress Rehearsals as needed.
o Travel to support off-site software installations as needed.
o Develop and share workflow best practices.
o Assist Project Managers in identifying system capabilities.
o Build, design, test, and document functionality of new system features.
- Clinical Knowledge Management efforts
o Contribute to building and improving Clinical Decision Support (CDS).
o Contribute to clinical review of CDS content.
o Communicate with members about CDS.
- Participate or provide leadership in interdisciplinary work groups in areas of expertise. Develop or further subject matter expertise, and provide leadership, in one or more priority areas. Involvement may include product consultation, research initiatives, business and foundation development needs, or policy.

****Please note: Certification in Epic Willow and a minmum of 3 years of pharmacy experience in a hospital environment is required.*****
- Clinical degree and licensure (PharmD) required
- Graduate degree, or certificate highly preferred
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in acute care pharmacy operations with strong understanding of pharmacy operations and workflows in a hospital setting required.
- Substantial applied informatics background required.
- 3+ years’ experience and/or substantial contribution to the OCHIN or the field related to medication use processes, clinical decision support, and pharmacy information systems.
- Willow Epic Certification and experience required.
- In depth knowledge of the Epic Willow pharmacy information system including configuration and maintenance required
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer application systems, including experience with Microsoft Office
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
- Experience with project management and leading teams
- Availability for occasional travel, including supporting go-lives according to OCHIN’s policy (go-live support is required; this support is sometimes provided virtually).
- Previous experience with Critical Access Hospitals is highly preferred.
- Previous experience with 340b Drug Pricing Program is desired.
- Knowledge and previous experience with clinical innovation, health care transformation, and quality improvement desired. Familiarity with methodologies such as the Model for Improvement or Lean desired.
