Starting pay for this position is $17.05/hour.
TRAINING:
All initial training is completed on dayshift (no matter the hours of your accepted position) FULL TIME 6AM-2:30 Monday-Friday for 2-3 weeks.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Phlebotomist I obtains blood and other specimens according to establishedpolicies and procedures from any location where patients may be present forlaboratory testing. In doing so, obtains needed supplies, verifies patientidentification, prepares skin sites, and performs venipuncture and skinpunctures according to established aseptic techniques. Labels specimens andtransports same to laboratory for analysis. This position works independentlyand as a part of a team, performs clerical and/or computer duties associatedwith the laboratory, and provides timely specimen collection and routing oflaboratory specimens. Maintains professional relationship with patients,staff, and physicians. Duties may varyby assigned area and/or shift.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High School or GED
Other requirements/information:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
License/Certifications:
- CPR Certification through the American Heart Association
- Phlebotomy Technician Certification (PBT)
Experience:
- 6 months in a team orientated environment or customer service role
- Completion of formal structured phlebotomy program OR 3 months’ full-time phlebotomy experience or equivalent.
- Experience working with an electronic medical record system, such as Epic
- Maintain composure while working under pressure; ability to perform job duties with frequent interruptions and/or distractions
