Job Description:
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work that is to be performed in the identified position. The statements are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified as other duties may be assigned.
Summary:
This is a part time position, minimum of 20 hours per week. The photographer and videographer will develop photo and video footage for promotional purposes. The ideal candidate must be able to work with diverse audiences.
This position will work with other members of a communications and marketing team to capture photos and develop video footage of outreach programs for promotional purposes, including website and social media posts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Film and photograph activities and people on sets and on location.
- Work with staff and clients to plan video shoots.
- Manage, set up and take down cameras, microphones, lighting, props, and other equipment.
- Edit footage after recording.
- Add computer graphics, closed captioning and special effects to footage.
- Prepare background film, also called "B" rolls.
- Edit all image formats and any other media communication piece in conjunction with web, news, social media, and publications.
- Deliver final products to various sources including internal and external customers, media, graphic designers, and other organizational contacts.
- Train staff on photo and video techniques to capture footage with cell phones and tablets paying attention to media file size and quality.
- Use staff photographs and video to produce high quality footage for use in written and digital media.
- Maintains comprehensive library and appropriately archive digital files
Requirements:
Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.):
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 5 years or more of relevant experience and technical proficiency in producing and editing photographs and video for use in print and digital formats. (AA degree and 2 years of relevant experience could be substituted)
- Shoot primary footage, background footage and live feed.
- Edit footage using editing software.
- Add effects like music, captions, graphics, etc.
- Able to apply post-production techniques.
- Collaborate with others to create film or video product.
- Produce a cohesive story through film clips.
Preferred:
- A bachelor's degree in broadcasting, film, or communications and/or comparable experience.
- College classes in video editing, screenwriting, and media ethics are helpful
Additional Information:
SALARY: $20-$30/hr commensurate with education and experience
