Position Information


Job Duties
1. Maintains and/or develops adequate clinical sites for clinical education component of curriculum and assure clinical affiliation agreements are current;
2. Provides appropriate feedback and developmental activities to clinical sites;
3. Able to initiate, administer, assess, and document clinical education programs;
4. Determines grading criteria for clinical education experience;
5. Determines, with appropriate input from Cl’s, the student’s final grade in each clinical education experience;
6. Assigns students to appropriate clinical education experiences and monitor students’ progress;
7. Able to travel to clinical sites, as needed;
8. Teaches assigned physical therapist assistant classes according to approved course syllabi;
9. Demonstrates willingness and ability to teach various courses, times, locations, and delivery methods, as needed and as reasonably requested by the college;
10. Utilizes appropriately challenging coursework to help students realize their full potential as learners;
11. Provides students with written expectations, e.g., syllabi, policies, assignment instructions, graded evaluations, etc.;
12. Administers tests which are appropriate to course content, including a comprehensive final exam measuring overall grasp of course objectives;
13. Maintains an appropriate learning and assessment climate in the classroom, whether traditional, web, or distance, which encourages the free exchange of ideas while defending academic honesty and objectivity;
14. Prepares adequately for class and arrives promptly at class meetings, labs, and any other scheduled instructional activities;
15. Delivers material in a clear and understandable manner;
16. Addresses student concerns, i.e., comments, questions, and input, both in class and via posted office hours, timely electronic communication, and other suitable means;
17. Develops assigned curricular content;
18. Designs and implement assigned instructional didactic and laboratory activities;
19. Assists with activities to maintain program accreditation;
20. Assists with planning the instructional program and policies;
21. Submits required reports and schedules in a timely manner to the department chair;
22. Maintains effective relationships with professional counterparts throughout the college and the community;
23. Assists with recruiting, marketing, and outreach for department programs; and,
24. Actively participates in college functions and events, and engages in community service;
25. Participates in program administrative activities, such as advisory committee meetings, budget preparation, physical therapy club, etc.;
26. Able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers;
27. Perform other duties as requested.

Job Description
GENERAL STATEMENT OF FUNCTION: As clinical coordinator, the individual is responsible for organization, administration, continuous review, planning development and general effectiveness of clinical experiences for students enrolled in the physical therapist assistant program. The instructor is to assist students in their learning process by utilizing all appropriate College resources, materials, facilities and educational technologies available to complement the teaching and learning process. This person is directed by the PTA Program Director and reports to the College Chair of Health Professions.

Mandatory Qualifications
MANDATORY:
(M1) licensed as a PTA/PT In any United States Jurisdiction;
(M2) Mississippi state license eligible;
(M3) 3 years of full-time post-licensure clinical practice;
(M4) Minimum 2 years experience in teaching, curriculum development and administration in a PTA/PT program OR 2 years of clinical practice experience as a CCCE or CI in physical therapy;
(M5) Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning In education or health related field.

Desirable Qualifications
DESIRABLE:
D(1) Masters or higher degree from a regionally accredited Institution of higher learning;
D(2) Experience teaching in an accredited PTA program to include clinical coordinator experience.
