How can you grow with Nufarm?

Based in Chicago Heights, IL, Nufarm is looking for a PLC Programmer who is responsible for developing PLC and HMI programs, troubleshoot existing control systems, manage PMs related to Server/Network equipment as well as instrumentation, develop test procedures, manage commissioning and tests for new equipment and upgrades.

What will you be doing?

• Troubleshooting, programming, and maintaining PLC-related and electrical equipment for reactors, conveyor systems, tank storage, and packaging equipment.
• Ordering and installing instrumentation and PLC components required for repairs.
• Developing PLC and HMI programs for project upgrades and operation change requests.
• Conducting test, start-ups, and commissioning for new projects and upgrades.
• Developing test procedures (Cold and hot commissioning).
• Managing the instrument calibration plan (Flow, temperature, level, pressure, pH transmitters).
• Assisting with the design, installation and troubleshooting of:

• Instrumentation (flow, temperature, level, pressure transmitters, etc.
• 3-phase and 1-phase equipment (including pumps, agitators, motor starters, Variable Frequency Drives, etc)
• PLC-controlled automated systems (including actuated valves, pumps, switches, sensors and associated interlocks and safety systems)
• Optimizing the operation of packaging machinery and equipment, such as liquid bottle fillers, bottle cappers, ink-jet coders, palletizers, case erectors, conveyors, and other packaging line equipment
• Partnering with IT Department providing technical support, troubleshooting and PMs related to the server/network equipment.
• Setting up and installing computer servers.
• Completing Technical lead and Project management activities related to Automation and instrumentation.

What do you bring?

You hold a bachelor’s or associates degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering. The right candidate will have at least 3 years’ experience with PLC’s. Ability to develop PLC programming and troubleshoot errors. Knowledge of instrumentation devices (flow switches, Level meters, Pressure switches, Flow meters, pH meters), 3-phase motors and controls. IT network and server knowledge, setup and installation experience. You have excellent communication, analytical, and technical skills with a keen interest for problem solving and troubleshooting. You have the ability to develop actionable recommendations and implement the plans you make.
