DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To maintain the District's pool and laundry equipment; to launder clothing, P.E. equipment, and linen; and to maintain the District's swimming pools in clean and sanitary condition. Employees in this classification receive general supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures. Employees in this classification train, direct, and monitor the work of student assistants. This job class is responsible for the performance of laundry and swimming pool maintenance duties as well as the general maintenance of laundry and swimming pool equipment.
CLASSIFICATION: Range 29 on the current Classified Salary Schedule, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year. Work assignment hours are 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
SUPERVISOR: Director of Physical Plant or designee.

Typical Duties, Knowledge and Ability
Typical Duties:
- Maintains and makes repairs to laundry equipment including washer-extractor, dryer, and other associated equipment.
- Picks up, launders, sorts, folds, and delivers clothing, P.E. equipment, and linens for a variety of campus departments.
- Maintains swimming pool, swimming pool equipment, and surrounding areas in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition.
- Maintains proper chemical and temperature balance of pool water in accordance with established standards.
- Vacuums and brushes swimming pools.
- Cleans, sweeps, and hoses down swimming pool deck and seating areas.
- Backwashes filters and cleans out holding tank.
- Checks athletic equipment in and out.
- Trains, directs, and monitors student laundry helpers.
- Performs other related duties similar to the above in scope and function as required.
- Operation and basic maintenance and repair of pool and laundry equipment.
- Basic plumbing and electronical principles and procedures.
- The safe use and storage of chlorine and other pool chemicals.
- Basic laundry products and techniques.
- Safely operate, maintain, and repair laundry and swimming pool maintenance equipment.
- Monitor and maintain swimming pools in clean, safe, and sanitary condition.
- Effectively and tactfully communicate in both oral and written forms.
- Train, direct, and monitor student assistants.
- Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties.
Experience/Education
- Two years' experience with machinery, plumbing, boilers, and pumps.
- Prefer experience in maintenance and repair of pool and laundry machinery.
- High school graduation or equivalent.
