Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
The Postdoctoral fellow will be trained on the available magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner at the McCausland Center for Brain Imaging (MCBI) and contribute to the acquisition, processing and analysis of behavioral and neuroimaging data collected as part of the Aging Brain Cohort. The Postdoctoral Fellow will contribute to the organization and execution of several ongoing research projects in the lab, such as ABC@UofSC and Brain Connectivity Supporting Language Recovery, as well as investigate new pursuits in the field of aging research, such as changes across the adult lifespan and in subsets of the adult population related to brain health, genetics, and behavioral measures (cognition, language, sensory, motor).
Minimum Qualifications
PhD in a field relevant to human aging, behavioral and/or cognitive research (e.g., public health, communication sciences and disorders, neuroscience, psychology, or related) by the start date of employment. Candidates will have expertise in acquiring and analyzing neuroimaging data and quantitative/qualitative research methods. The Postdoctoral Fellow will have been trained in statistics and familiar with neuro-imaging softwares. Proficiency with preprocessing and analyzing EEG data using EEGLab or similar software and demonstrated ability to conduct empirical studies using EEG data. Expertise with MRI data analysis using common software including but not limited to SPM, FSL, AFNI, DTIStudio, ASLprep, fMRIPrep, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise with SPSS and Matlab, along with EEG and MRI proficiency will be given preference.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Strong writing skills and prior demonstrated ability to publish required; preferably iin the field of aging . Candidates will possess robust analytical abilities, strong scholarly publication records, creative thinking, effective communications skills, self-motivation, and work well with a team.
