The Principal Engineer is a critical member of any Agile Product Team. This role is accountable for leading within and across data products and working closely with Solution Architects, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Engineers, Release Managers and Product Director
The Principal Engineer lead is a “T-Shaped” role demonstrating both depth and breadth across key engineer competencies including data product lifecycle and the ability to successfully collaborate with experts from other subject domains.
The role will have deep knowledge and experience of industry technologies, practices, and frameworks to understand business requirements for building Data Products in support of marketing and commercial objectives.
In addition, the individual must be knowledgeable in Architecture Design and Governance and to educate others. They also act as a buffer between the engineering team and product owner/manager and maintain a safe working environment for the team by helping with conflict resolution.

- Works with 2-3 Scrum Teams, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive technical standard, architecture and decision making and support organizational project or product teams.
- Contributes and aligns solutions to the MarTech roadmap, Target Architecture working closely with Enterprise Architecture team
- Ensures that technical delivery is fully compliant with GSK Security, Quality and Regulatory standards
- Ensures use of relevant Pharma Tech / central services and collaborating with service partners in identification and delivery of service improvements
- Supports Product Owners and product teams to deliver value continuously, fostering and maintaining close links with customers and Tech organizations
- Keeps relevant technical documentation up to date in support of the lifecycle plan for audits/reviews in compliance with GSK Standards.
- Pro-actively engages in experimentation and innovation to drive relentless improvement and reducing technical debt/risk
- Provides leadership, technical direction and GSK expertise to product teams composed of GSK FTEs, strategic partners and software vendors
- Contributes to release planning and roadmaps working closely with Product Owners and Product Director
- Cross team delivery: Mastery of complex facilitation and dependency management techniques (cross team, cross department)

- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
- 2+ years of data governance exp
- 2+ azure technology exp
- 3+ yeara data product exp
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
- Experience in solution design, programme and product delivery and service management
- Experience in delivering business impact through process and Tech enabled solutions
- Experience of vendor management
- Excellent relationship management, strong influencing and communication skills
- Content knowledge of respective functional area helpful (business operating models, processes & products)
- Pharma industry experience
