We are seeking a Process Engineer to join our team at our Geismar, Louisiana site. The Process Engineer will report to the Process Engineering Team Leader.
You Will Use Your Expertise To:
Monitor daily plant operation and performance looking for opportunities to optimize existing plant capabilities as well as interface with operations technicians to implement daily changes.
Process Engineer will work with the process and project teams to provide process designs, economic analyses and initial front-end engineering to support continuous improvement.
Provide technical support during plant turnarounds and minor outages.
Participate in PHA and Risk-Based Inspection revalidations.
Participate in the Facility Change Management Process (FCM) by executing and completing Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, hazard analyses, and other technical processes.
Must have the ability to adapt, learn and work in fast paced and dynamic environment.
Must be willing to work in outdoor process environments to troubleshoot issues, interface with maintenance, and drive solutions that will improve plant reliability
Expected to use of DCS control data historians to develop process monitoring, evaluation and troubleshooting tools/spreadsheets.
The ideal candidate must be a self-starter, should have the ability to multi-task and possess good organization and time management skills.
When required, the Process Engineer will be asked to perform confined space entries and collect field data.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate sound technical abilities, strong ability to learn and interface with personnel across the site in a variety of functions.
Candidate must also possess sound verbal and written communication skills with developed interpersonal skills to gain alignment and resolve conflicts within cross-discipline work groups.
What We Are Looking For:
Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Applied Science or equivalent with a minimum of 5 to 7 years of related engineering experience.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
Aspen Plus, Aspen EDR, Aspen Simulation Workbook and Honeywell Uniformance experience an asset.
Ability to work independently and manage your own workload with minimal supervision, managing multiple projects and tasks in a dynamic teamwork environment
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to present or explain information using a variety of formal presentation tools and techniques, ability to influence without authority

Located just south of Baton Rouge and employing more than 120 people, the olefins facility in Geismar, Louisiana, annually produces approximately 1.95 billion pounds of ethylene and 114 million pounds of polymer grade propylene. It also produces 13 million gallons of crude butadiene and 14 million gallons of Debutanized Aromatic Concentrate per year.
Additional Information:
Relocation will be considered for this position.
Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience.
This role requires up to 5% travel.
Work will be conducted both indoors and outdoors in all seasons
Positions will include some lifting and climbing of ladders within various levels of the units
On-call support may be required of the role during plant emergencies and outages due to the 24 hour per day plant operation
In order to fulfil the duties of this role, the successful candidate will be required to wear respiratory protective equipment. Candidate must successfully pass a fit test and be physically able to wear a respirator
The successful candidate is required to provide proof of a valid driver’s license.
