Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Through ARS, The University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill seeks to meet the individual needs of applicants and current students with disabilities and medical conditions as they relate to academics, residences, dining, and co and extra-curricular campus activities. ARS coordinates and implements appropriate reasonable accommodations including academic adjustments and provides appropriate resources and services in accordance with the American with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act (504). ARS works with all students including undergraduate and graduate students, full-time and part-time students, students following continuing education courses or who may be auditing and with program applicants. Within the resources available, ARS also functions as a source of information, educational outreach and advice.

Position Summary
Accessibility Resources and Service (ARS) coordinates and implements appropriate accommodations and provides services to current UNC-CH students as they relate to academics. ARS is seeking individuals to assist its staff members in meeting the individual needs of current students with disabilities and medical conditions during final exam days for Spring 2023 term.

This temporary appointment will last approximately 14 days, including a mandatory Orientation on Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 1:00 – 4:00pm. Duties will include, but are not limited to, assisting students in the check-in/check-out process for testing during finals, assisting staff during finals with prepping and closing out exams, and other administrative tasks needed to help with proctoring of final exams. During final exams, the assistants will be instrumental in helping staff to administer final exams in both paper and electronic form, direct students to and from the check-in area, monitor hallways in testing areas, and assist with monitoring students or cameras. Additional duties may include scanning and emailing exams, scribing and reading assistance, transport of materials across campus, rearranging of light furniture (moving desk/chairs), cross-checking that the correct exams are in the corresponding envelopes, and other duties as requested during exam period.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Candidates must be friendly with positive attitudes and team-driven. Must be familiar and skilled in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word), customer service oriented, demonstrate attention to detail, have the ability to do light typing, data entry, filing, and possess excellent telephone and email etiquette. Candidates must exercise good judgment and critical thinking skills, and be able to function in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment.

A FERPA training will be required to protect the confidentiality of the students as well as Time Information Management (TIM) Training.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience proctoring exams or working with university students in an academic setting. Experience working with or assisting people with disabilities or chronic health conditions.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Candidates must possess the mental ability to understand written and spoken instructions. Must have the physical ability to scribe examinations by hand or type, move light furniture, manipulate paper into envelopes and move approximately 50 pounds, with or without accommodation, during final exam periods.
