Job Summary


The production assistant provides valuable services in supporting the production staff and print operations of the university. This position is responsible for assisting production staff in all areas of operation to ensure the efficient production of quality printed materials and print related services.

  • Responsible for assisting with operation of digital print production machines
  • Responsible for assisting with printing, proofing, finishing, packaging and shipping all digital print orders
  • Monitor all digital orders for appropriate Quality Assurance
  • Assist with maintaining digital production and finishing equipment and placing services calls for print production issues. •
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to management.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill. • Perform all other business-related duties as assigned."

Responsibilities


Assist with print operations

Assist with print operations in the production and finishing of printed materials and print related services. Interpret written and verbal instructions to produce work that meets customer expectations and department standards while demonstrating excellent communication skills and customer service.

Operate, observe, and monitor large format machines

Operate, observe, and monitor large format machines and equipment related to production. Note any defects, malfunctions, or issues and determine whether action is need, reporting such cases as warranted to production staff. Responsible for maintaining large format production equipment to ensure optimal working condition. Advise management of any maintenance related issue.

Provide quality control of all materials produced

Provide quality control of all materials produced, included but not limited to: proofs, printing issues, finishing defects, correct finishing and quantities, and confirm completed material match requested order placed by customer. Assist in other areas of production as needed to meet prescribed deadlines and perform other duties as assigned. Professional development, training, and other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications


Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience
Experience in production or office environment and/or related print shop experience. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Attention to detail. Excellent written command of English language, spelling and grammar. Ability to work well in production environment and meet deadlines

Physical Requirements

Lifting – up to 20lbs or greater Office Environment - Work normally performed in a typical interior work environment.

Bachelors Degree

Preferred Experience

Experience in digital print proception or large format production, and/or direct experience in a commercial print shop and working with customers to provide exceptional products and services. Knowledge of operation and maintenance of large format and other print/print finishing equipment and related software. Working knowledge of electronic file requirements for production printing. Quality driven and ability to multi-task.

Proposed Salary


$16.88 hourly, paid on a bi-weekly basis.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities


Ability to work well in production environment; requires agility to access equipment for maintenance and for paper/substrate changes, to respond quickly to maintain safety of employees and equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50-lb. rolls of substrate/production materials unassisted. Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods
