In collaboration with the Manager HIM & Revenue Cycle Compliance and HIM Supervisor, the Program Associate will support operations related to medical record management of PHI (Protected Health Information). The Associate will promote access to patient health information and appropriate utilization of services surrounding the EHR with HIPAA rules intact. Will support Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) strategies and facilitate interventions. Will contribute to the development/revisions of policies and procedures to support the improvement of operations and customer service. Will contribute to operational performance goals on key file processing functions to ensure metrics are met. The program associate will support the manager and supervisor in tracking and auditing on regulatory standards as well as helping department initiatives align with Risk and Compliance priorities. Will communicate and coordinate with all levels of internal and external customers.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
Associate's Degree (Required)
Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience
2 years Project experience; HIM experience (Required)
1 year EHR Experience (Preferred)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Excellent analytical skills
Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office including Excel
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work on program objectives and meet deadlines
Ensure compliance with CNMC policies and procedures and regulatory standards.
Assist the HIM Supervisor and Manager in the development of strategies to improve the quality and security of the EHR.

Required Licenses and Certifications
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) (Preferred)
AHIMA Credentials (Preferred)

Functional Accountabilities
HIM Program Coordination
  • Supports development of program management tools and workflows for the HIM department.
  • Ensure accurate reconciliation of e-files from divergent systems and monitor error queues for timely auditing and tracking purposes.
  • Assesses key program information and data for input into appropriate KPI metrics.
  • Perform quality assurance tasks related to third party vendor workflows.
  • Supports partner engagement efforts for documentation optimization, patient portal engagement, and other projects aligning with HIPAA standard operating procedures and policies, and working with cross functional teams including Legal, IT, Risk Management/Compliance.
  • Proactively anticipates, identifies, and facilitates resolution of potential project issues relating to medical record integrity and patient experience, by collaborating with the internal and external teams.
  • Support HIM quarterly reporting and workplan updates.
Administrative Support
  • Manage day-to-day administrative functions for the HIM Program such as organizing and maintaining department files and records, and performing complex clerical duties and analytics.
  • Routinely coordinate and facilitate solutions with internal and external organizations, third party vendors, patients and families.
  • Serve as a communication link to other CNHS departments and foster positive professional relationships
