Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence (BBBSI) is the largest BBBS agency in the state and fourth largest in the nation. Our mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth, while working collaboratively to strengthen the quality of the mentoring field and close the mentoring gap.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We know that LGBTQ+ youth face additional and unique challenges in their development. In 2018, BBBSI started a program to support these queer and questioning youth specifically. Our LGBTQ+ Program works with school communities to provide accessible, safe, and caring LGBTQ+ volunteers to support our youth in achieving their full potential. BBBSI seeks a full-time LGBTQ+ Program Coordinator to support this endeavor. Some evening/weekend work is required, as is travel throughout the local BBBS service area, with the majority of time spent during 9-5 work hours.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Academic Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (OR an Associate’s Degree and a minimum 2 years relevant experience OR a High School Diploma/GED equivalent a minimum of 4 years relevant experience) required per national Agency requirements.
Professional Requirements: Knowledge of and/or experience in human services field a plus. This position will require reimbursable travel to assigned schools in part of our 7-county region. Must have daily, dependable access to a car, valid driver's license, and meet state-required automobile insurance minimums.
