Universal Pure is hiring a Project Engineer for full-time employment at their site in Lincoln, NE.
As the Project Engineer, you will be responsible for all engineering and technical disciplines that projects involve. You will schedule, plan, forecast, resource, and manage all the technical activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion. You will also execute a variety of projects across all Universal Pure plants for the automation of operations. This position will report to the company’s Operations Group which supports 8 manufacturing sites.
Universal Pure was founded in 2001 as a cold storage warehouse facility in Lincoln, NE with deep roots in the cold supply chain. Over time, our customers’ needs grew for other integrated food and beverage services, so we expanded their capabilities and footprint to meet the needs of our growing customer base. Now Universal Pure is a one-stop-shop HPP service provider to the food and beverage industry, offering a suite of cold chain solutions at eight U.S. facilities, across seven locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ability to travel 65% of the time for technology research, supplier evaluations and checkouts, plant installations and startups as well as ongoing training and support
- Requires occasional heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
- Work may involve some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
- This role operates in a wet and cold/refrigerated environment (around 35 degrees F) located within a manufacturing, warehousing, and production-type facility. Must be able to withstand cold temperatures as needed.
- Identify/Scope/Manage automation programs/projects across the company’s entire manufacturing system
- Capital projects/programs to range from $0.1 to $2 million
- Provides expert consultation in multiple areas for the design, development and implementation of automated equipment and systems
- Develops breakthrough solutions to improve the efficiency of line operations through the application of automation
- Perform vetting analysis for all projects, includes financial, operational and technical analysis
- Create and manage Capital Authorization Requests (CAR’s)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 3+ years of applicable experience required
- Experience with automation and robotics
- Fundamental understanding of first principles required in the design and manufacture of automation systems
- Knowledge and experience with Lean Concepts and Continuous Improvement activities
- Six Sigma experience preferred
- Proven root problem-solving skills on processes, such as: Pareto generation/analysis, Fishbone Diagram, Five Whys, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Demonstrated application of complex concepts, practices and procedures within a particular engineering field
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills and proficient in AutoCAD
