Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience Qualifications: Five years of experience in distribution operations or a related field required. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Skills Qualifications: Knowledge of distribution and logistics principles, operations management, and inventory control; knowledge of business and financial principles, labor laws, worker safety, and Department of Transportation regulations applicable to distribution operations; ability to supervise others; ability to work with local school administrators and support staff; knowledge of a variety of federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to environmental, chemical, and worker safety issues and hazards; ability to apply common principals, practices, materials, and processes in physical sciences, commercial construction, business administration, and operations management; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to plan and organize work schedules; effective problem solving skills, including the ability to analyze qualitative or quantitative data, identify trends, and determine actions to be taken; and computer skills with database, computerized maintenance management, supply chain management, asset management, and related software.
Primary Responsibilities: Manage and continually improve distribution and disposal operations, identify and prioritize opportunities at assigned warehouses and in-field services to local schools and support facilities, prepare, present, and recommend action plans, and implement approved action plans to achieve identified goals.
1. Manage the property distribution operations assigned, including the GCPS Property Warehouse, surplus and salvage of furniture and equipment, and moving services.
2. Execute the timely move-in and move-out of new, used, and surplus furnishings for all district facilities, including capital program new constructions, renovations, and additions.
3. Manage the transport and storage of designated system records, in collaboration with, and following standards of the GCPS Records Management department.
4. Lead, assess, and develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities of assigned personnel to effectively perform job responsibilities.
5. Identify, implement, and pursue necessary changes in processes or resources to continuously improve property distribution processes and provide increased services, in pace with student population growth.
6. Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations for assigned operations, and with prescribed or unique handling requirements of specific goods distributed.
7. Develop recommendations for and maintain fiscal accountability of assigned budgets.
8. Communicate the results and performance of assigned operations via reports, related charts, and graphs of key measurements and indicators, including use of available information from various systems.
9. Serve as the functional expert for the implementation, utilization, and on-going development of the PeopleSoft system, and other computer based systems essential to the functions of assigned operations.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
