The Proposal Specialist supports corporate functions and business lines in winning new work, promoting accomplishments by aligning with company strategies and objectives, creating compelling value propositions developing effective communications materials, and implementing good business administration and marketing practices. This position manages activities including RFP/RFQ Submittals, Statement of Qualifications, Marketing Collateral Production (brochures, advertisement), and development/maintenance of project description sheets.

The Proposal Specialist works in collaboration and partnership with Marketing, Business Development, Estimating and Preconstruction.

Essential Job Functions

· Interpret Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Qualifications (RFQ) and generate compliance matrix

· Develop specific sales strategies and themes to incorporate into proposals and presentations

· Assist in gathering & developing information to include in proposals; Participate in team meetings and conference calls

· Write, edit, and update proposal narratives and resumes for project personnel assigned to the project team, and coordinate final production

· Create presentations, boards, leave-behinds, etc.

· Assist interview team in preparing for interview

· Work collaboratively with operations team, subject matter experts, and leadership to capture key concepts and ideas while maintaining consistency in messaging and strategy through the use of proper tone, graphics, and presentation.

· Assignments will include but are not limited to writing of white papers, RFI’s, technical content and solutions, past performance and corporate experience, staffing plans, resumes, and transition plans.

· Other duties related to the expertise required for this position, as necessary.

Education/Experience

  • Accredited four (4) year degree in business, marketing, communications, journalism, English, or related discipline preferred
  • Six (6) years’ experience in positions that provide a broad view of business, technical writing, project management, and/or industrial marketing
  • Work experience in marketing and line experience in one or more functions is desirable
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient computer and software skills and knowledge to include Proposify and Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote)
  • Knowledge of engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction/construction management (EPFC/CM) industry practices and methodologies is desirable, but can be acquired through related work experience and/or external and internal education opportunities
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment criminal, driving and drug screen
  • Must possess a current and valid state driver’s license and a clean driving record

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties the employee is regularly required to make use of close vision to read engineering blueprints and reduced size black and white drawings, specifications, fine print, reports, schedules, estimates, spreadsheets, summaries, and other documents in either hard copy or computer monitor. Must be able to converse on the telephone and in person, use hands and fingers to write and type, prepare email messages with attached files, and use personal computers and calculators. The employee will periodically need to lift and/or carry heavy documents such as specifications and/ or equipment, weighing up to 25 pounds.
