PSYCHIATRIC CONSULTANT (PER DIEM)

Global Trauma Research (GTR)’s mission is to provide accessible and culturally responsive trauma, mental health, and education services to underserved populations.

The Psychiatric Physician or Nurse Practitioner will have the responsibility of providing ongoing mental health services and monitoring. This position is per diem for one to two days per week. The schedule is flexible, and the Psychiatric Physician or Nurse Practitioner will report directly to the Executive Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Conducts Psychiatric evaluations relating to mental status and reality testing of clients suspected of having a thought disorder, major affective disorder, at risk for suicide, PTSD, or other psychiatric concerns.

2. Work collaboratively with all staff, including outside mental health providers or hospitals, to ensure the most appropriate services are being provided.

3. Perform medication assessments of clients who may stand to benefit from Psychopharmacotherapy.

4. Perform at least monthly medication reviews for clients being treated with psychotropic medication.

5. Support these staff in promoting understanding and support for medication treatment of clients

6. Participate in Initial Service Plans and High-Risk Case Conferences for clients/families to assist in program and treatment planning.

7. Provide written Psychiatric evaluations, progress notes, and any other relevant documentation

8. Co-sign Tx plans when necessary.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. M.D. or N.P. Degree with a completed residency in psychiatry and a valid state license by the state of New York.

2. Board Certified

3. At least two years of clinical experience

4. and DSM 5 and ICD 10

5. Trauma informed and multicultural competence

6. Proficient computer skills (ability to utilize Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; and electronic submission of treatment plans and prescription).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bilingual (French or Haitian-Creole)

Pay: $150.00 - $200.00 per hour
