Purchasing Specialist

We are looking for a motivated purchasing specialist with an affiliation to engineered industrial and medical products to join our Purchasing and Planning Department at the Williamsburg, VA site:

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Place purchase orders for input materials such as optical fibers, machined parts, cable jackets, switches and consumables with suppliers according to ERP-system generated demand list
• Conduct price negotiations with suppliers
• Support identification and development of new suppliers for existing and new input materials
• Perform annual supplier ratings according to KPIs such as Quality, OTD, Costs etc.
• Coordinate with engineering and production teams to ensure ordering to the right specification
• As secondary duty, help perform the Department’s production planning tasks

Qualifications:

• Associate degree (or better) in applicable field
• Ideally, working experience in a purchasing function for a B2B company
• Ability to understand fabrication drawings, datasheets and other technical information
• Self-Motivated and Self-Directed with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Communication skills, cooperativeness, and ability to work in a team
• Effective time management skills with ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to legally work in the United States
