BWXT is currently seeking a Quality Lead Auditor for its Lynchburg, VA location!


Job Description/Duties:

  • Leads internal and external audits to confirm technical, quality, and regulatory compliance to requirements, thus ensuring the quality of BWXT products and services.
  • Prepares audit plans through detailed analysis of previous issues, current performance, and requirements.
  • Assembles and leads audit teams of BWXT personnel and customer representatives.
  • Evaluates internal and supplier manufacturing and quality processes.
  • Participates in customer quality performance evaluations or other audits as necessary.
  • Writes audit summary reports documenting the results for distribution to senior managers, regulators and customers.
  • Writes and revises procedures related to the audit process.
  • Initiates and reviews Corrective Actions ensuring audit findings are resolved completely.
  • Identifies and evaluates trends in supplier audit findings.
  • Prepares internal and external audit schedules.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience is required. Auditing and/or Quality Assurance experience is preferred.
  • Candidate must obtain and maintain NQA-1 lead auditor status. Existing or previous NQA-1 qualification a plus.
  • American Society for Quality Certified Quality Auditor (ASQ CQA) certification is preferred.
  • Possess effective skills in leadership, demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, teamwork, time management, planning, and conflict resolution.
  • Experience in the nuclear or defense industry is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with and understanding of quality elements is desired, including quality systems, change management, document and data control, product identification and traceability, inspection and testing, control of non-conforming product, corrective and preventive action, control of records, and process control.
  • Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office products and be willing and able to learn BWXT proprietary computer systems.
  • Initial period of employment may include increased travel requirements to support required off-site training.
  • A writing sample will be required.
  • Must be a US Citizen with no dual citizenship.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
