The Quant Analyst, Mortgage is expected to manage internal models and tools and perform analysis for pricing, reserving and accumulation testing. This role will support the Mortgage team and additional Specialty lines of business as required in evaluating new reinsurance transactions and business opportunities and preparing analysis and reports on the in-force portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform pricing analysis in support of underwriting mortgage reinsurance with Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs), Private Mortgage Insurers (PMIs) and other sources (banks, other insurers) in the US and internationally
- Run internal models and analytics tools in support of growing and managing the Mortgage reinsurance portfolio
- Assist UW in producing portfolio and account performance reporting through dashboards and other reports, including monthly and quarterly management reports
- Support in the development/enhancement of automation of performance reports
- Assist in developing modelling and monitoring guidelines and documentation
- Investigate mortgage pricing model developments
- Liaise with IT and AXIS Re Product and Risk units for platform development and enhancements to modelling and reporting
- Manage and process submission data received from brokers and cedants and share information with services units and other functions as needed
- Assist in identifying and monitoring housing market measures and evaluating emerging risks
- Assist in investigating portfolio management strategies such as retrocession and hedging
- Liaise with consultants & model vendors
- 5-10% Travel as needed

Education/Skills/Experience
- Minimum requirement of B.S. in finance, computer science or related technical field
- Outstanding analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Proven experience in financial modeling and statistical analysis
- Experience with modeling tools and the interpretation of their output
- Solid understanding of exposure quantification and actuarial pricing techniques
- Some exposure to mortgage credit and/or specialty re/insurance pricing
- Demonstrated rigor and work ethic
- High level of motivation and a proposer of solutions
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight time constraints
- Programming experience in Python, R, SAS and/or Matlab
- Experience with Economic Scenario Generators a plus
For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $123,000-150,000 (NY). The specific salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including the experience of the successful candidate and their work location.
