Job Purpose / Summary:

This is a laboratory-based position within the Research and Development group. The candidate will perform assays for the development of robust immunoassays and sample transportation devices. Feasibility, verification and validation assays will be designed by the R&D Manager and will be performed by the R&D Technician. This job will involve routine cell culture and virus propagation to validation sample transportation devices. This entails small scale cell and viral propagation with no cleanroom requirements. Following the development of sample transportation devices through virus and cell culture, the candidate will be trained in assay development for Immunoassays such as Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assays (ELISA), Chemiluminescence Assays (CLIA), Indirect Immunofluorescence (IIF), Line Immunoassays (LIA) and cell-based assays such as flow cytometry.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Human cell line propagation with virus infection in BSL-2 facility.
• Viral plaque assays for titer determination. Cell culture troubleshooting.
• Following cell culture / sample transportation product development the candidate will be trained in and perform immunoassays for immunoassay development. Assays could include ELISA, CLIA, IIF, LIA and cell-based assays such as flow cytometry.
• Document experiments, analyze data, and provide conclusions obtained from cell/viral culture and assay development in either an electronic or paper notebook as directed. Maintain good electronic and physical records within a cGMP and ISO regulated company.
• Provide data analysis in support of technical documents including, development reports, analytical test methods, verification and validation protocols and reports.

Education, skills and / or work experience requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in biological science, biochemistry, or related discipline with 0-3 years of relevant experience.
• Laboratory experience with cell and virus culture is preferred.
• Proficiency with personal computers including word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, and relevant scientific software is required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
