What you'll be challenged to do:
TranSystems provides transportation-engineering services across the country. Our Transit and Rail Market Sector is currently designing a number of exciting projects in both the transit and freight sectors throughout the nation. We have immediate openings for a Rail Engineer II with between 5-10 years of experience. The candidate will work closely with the market leaders, PMs, and more senior engineers, however the ability to work independently is a must as full time office support will not be available. Proactive outreach for design questions and the initiative to trouble shoot and think on their own, bringing solutions to the table not just questions is critical.
General Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and/or review design calculations.
- Research different design options, code requirements and present findings.
- Prepare and/or review reports, design/contract drawings and specifications.
- Prepare and/or review construction quantities and cost estimates.
- Prepare Construction Documents with little direction, working independently when needed.
- Prepare Technical Specification with little direction.
- Good leader with the ability to give direction others in the performance of project tasks.
- Good communication with Project Manager, Supervisor, and project team members.
- Keep Project Manager informed of workload, provide updates on project progress.
- Responsible for accuracy of engineering design and plans, quality presentation, thoroughness and follow-through, and conformance to budgets, schedules, and company standards under the direction of task and project leaders.
- Broaden and maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
What you bring to our firm:
Bachelor’s in engineering from a 4-yr accredited college or university or equivalent education/work experience- Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Extensive experience with engineering design packages such as MicroStation and OpenRoads
- Ability to Obtain PE within 1 year
- Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
