TITLE: Receptionist - Central Office
JOB STATUS: FLSA Overtime Eligible
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Human Resources or his/her designee
DEPARTMENT: Academics and Student Learning

POSITION SUMMARY: To contribute to effective school-public relations by prompt and courteous handling of all inquiries and visitors.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A high school diploma or training and experience that are considered equivalent.
  • A knowledge of good telephone communications.
  • A reasonable skill in typing, filing, and operation of common office equipment.
  • A courteous and pleasing personality.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Greets all visitors courteously, determines their needs, checks appointments, and directs or escorts them to proper person.
  • Acknowledges all visitors and requests they identify themselves, and also, issues all visitor identification badges.
  • Answers office telephone and responds appropriately to requests for information or forwards calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Retrieves night phone messages and notifies appropriate personnel of their messages via phone, voice mail or e-mail.
  • Maintains an attractive and comfortable reception area which includes a reading table stocked with current school district publications and periodicals of general interest.
  • Appropriately distributes weekly news media publications.
  • Signs for all deliveries and notifies appropriate personnel of their arrival.
  • Checks after-hours mailbox each morning for mail and messages and distributes to appropriate personnel.
  • Maintains security tapes on a daily basis for reception area.
  • Schedules accommodations for all meetings within Central Office.
  • Distributes transcript request forms, work permits, time sheets, change of address sheets and other documents. Confirms documents properly completed and signed by appropriate personnel.
  • Sends out information packets and applications to prospective residents and employees.
  • Gives out information regarding appropriate school assignments based on address per request of new residents,.
  • Distributes literature approval forms for the Communication Department.
  • Maintains newspaper archives for The Columbus Dispatch, The Dublin News and The Dublin Villager.
  • Provides support work for all Central Office Departments such as filing, addressing envelopes, alphabetizing, counting out materials for each building and other special projects.
  • Ensures the safety of students.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relationships.
  • Remains free of any alcohol or nonprescription controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout employment in the district.
  • Exhibits professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment.
  • Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, and intelligent human beings.
  • Understands the legal responsibility to help instill in students the belief in, and practice of, ethical principles and democratic values.
  • Maintains confidentiality and respect for confidential information at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
261 days (251 work days and 10 paid holidays); 8 hours per day, excluding lunch; number of days of vacation, holidays and salary as determined by Negotiated Agreement. Work year to be established by the Board.

SALARY: $19.66/HR. - $21.74/HR.
