Redfield Estate Venue Supervisor

(Part-Time-Seasonal)

The Grove Redfield Estate is an award winning wedding and event venue located in Glenview, Illinois on the grounds of The Grove Nature Preserve, a 150 + acre National Historic Landmark. Built in 1929 by Prairie School architect George Elmslie, the estate features an elegant Craftsman style home, outdoor Pavilion, Gazebo and expansive grounds. Owned and operated by the Glenview Park District (GPD), the entire estate is included in private rentals.

JOB SUMMARY Venue Supervisors are responsible for overseeing the Estate house, Pavilion, Gazebo, grounds, and Carriage House during private rentals. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Manage Estate property during rentals, and serve as point of contact to catering captain, event planners, vendors and guests during events. Offer general information about the venue to individuals upon request.

· Open the building and prepare for rentals putting out event signage, making sure house and grounds are event ready. Provide customer service greeting guests, caterers, and vendors. Explain procedures and other pertinent information as needed.

· When requested, light gas fireplaces, set up fans or portable heaters outdoors. Close or open tent curtain sides when required. Set up tables and chairs for “ceremony only” events, and some business meetings.

· Monitor the security of the Estate by enforcing facility rules and GPD policies. Respond to emergency situations following the GPD Emergency Response Plan. Follow proper procedures for reporting any incidents.

· Detect and repair, or, report safety hazards, failures in equipment, hardware and mechanical systems.

· Custodial and light maintenance work before, during and after events will be expected, including use of leaf blower, rake, broom, mop, and occasionally light snow shoveling.

· Follow closing procedures and secure facility post-event.

· Assist with Grove sponsored special events as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualified candidates must be at least 21 years old, possess a high school diploma or equivalent and sufficient physical ability to perform the job including bending, stooping, lifting, climbing stairs, outdoor grounds work. Must have exceptional customer service skills and good judgment to handle situations that may arise during events. Will attend all required meetings & trainings. Prior related work experience preferred.

SCHEDULING & PAY
Position is seasonal, May-October, and potential for hours in the off-season. Approximately 10-20 hours week. Primarily weekends but also some weekdays. Pay is $15-17/hour, depending on qualifications. Shifts that are scheduled early in the morning OR late in the evening will be offered an additional $3/hour.

The possibility of working additional hours in other capacities at The Grove including part-time programs, maintenance, or at other rental facilities throughout the Glenview Park District, may be available as well.
