POSITION SUMMARY:

Successfully promote and support the mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas as guided by the Catholic Social Teachings through promoting and establishing a digital access program for eligible refugees and immigrants. Refugees with low literacy, digital literacy, and language barriers face challenges in accessing the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), accessing online English classes, and paying bills online when necessary. This position will create & deliver programming to address needs and help clients build digital skills they need to become self-sufficient. This position is hybrid, with most work done in employee's home and client's homes. The position must attend department and agency meetings in-person. The Refugee Digital Access Case Aide is a grant-funded position and will be funded until the end of April 2024. The extension of this position is contingent on grant funding. EEO.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with the Refugee and Immigration Services Department to ensure that clients in need of Internet connectivity, digital skills support, and technical assistance are connected with the appropriate technology
  • Identify key stakeholders in digital access in Kansas City and creating digital education resources to provide to newly arriving refugees. Ensure refugees are able to access resources by requesting translation and audio recordings as needed
  • Liaise with Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and associated Digital Navigator resources to ensure that refugee and immigrant clients can connect to the Internet and utilize remote tools and curricula
  • Complete Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) applications for clients and setup wifi/internet in client homes
  • Assist, teach, and drive clients to and from computer classes at CCNEK. Develop curricula to fit student needs. Coordinate interpretation for class sessions.
  • Work with English Language Training team to enroll online students and assist them In connecting to zoom
  • Cultivate positive relationships with relevant faith based organizations, social service providers, and other community partners.
  • Complete all necessary documentation to ensure compliance with funding requirements and agency quality assurance standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must complete VIRTUS training, background screening, drug testing, and any ongoing training as required
  • Bachelor’s Degree or related 3+ years of field experience and one-year experience working with technology access.
  • Establish highly effective relationships with clients, community agencies, volunteers, and other staff members.
  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form in English and have excellent presentation skills for large and small groups.
  • Must have good computer skills in order to administer regular assessments to track client progress and communicate client progress with assigned Workers through completion of monthly progress. Must be able to type and know how to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in attendance tracking and reporting, required by state funding agency, match grant program and local department of children and families.
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment that is very diverse, with a familiarity of refugee populations and able to ensure confidentiality of all clients.
  • Must possess a valid Kansas or Missouri Driver’s license, dependable transportation, current vehicle insurance and a verified safe driving record.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing in the classroom, bending and moving
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds
  • Must have physical ability to effectively communicate with others
  • Must have the physical ability and appropriate licensure for driving
