For more than 55 years, North Carolina Outward Bound School (NCOBS) has been delivering challenging outdoor adventure programs for people of all ages and occupations. Summary


The Regional Development Officer is an important member of the Development Team leading the regional fundraising efforts at NCOBS. The Regional Development Officer cultivates and stewards important connections with donors and supporters in NCOBS’s key fundraising regions through regular communication, individual meetings, advisory boards, and events. Regions include Charlotte, NC, Washington, D.C., South Florida, Philadelphia, and Atlanta, GA.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Regional Advancement

  • Work in cross functional team to align and drive Regional Advancement in coordination with Community Based Programs, regional advisory boards, and NCOBS strategic plan.

  • Implement all development and fundraising initiatives in each region, including event management.

  • Seek and build relationships with various constituents in each region, including regional advisory boards, major donors, corporate sponsors, and partner schools.

  • Write content for segmented print and digital pieces in collaboration with the Development Director and Development Coordinator.

Grants Management

  • Manage the process for regional grants with support from the Development Director and Associate Director of Advancement Operations.

  • Work collaboratively with other departments to secure necessary information for grants and donor reports.

Administrative Duties

  • Actively participate in Development and Advancement meetings and retreats.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Development Director.


Knowledge and Skills


  • Exemplary writing, speaking, and presentation skills

  • Self-starter with some teamwork required

  • Experience using CRMs, preferably Salesforce

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite


Education and Work Experience


Required Education and Work Experience

  • Associate’s degree

  • 3-5 years of fundraising experience

Preferred Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree


Physical Requirements


  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use a computer.

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell.

Location/Travel


  • Primarily office based at Asheville Town Office/eligible for hybrid work model.

  • Frequent travel for donor connectivity in NC, GA, and other southeastern states.

  • Some irregular hours and weekend work are expected.


Compensation and Benefits


  • Full-Time, Salaried position in the mid-50s range depending on experience.
