THE OPPORTUNITY:
Our Transtar team in Cookeville, TN manufactures best-in-quality Recon Certified™ torque converters.
The Regional EHS Manager is responsible for planning, establishing, implementing, and maintaining a variety of occupational health, safety, and environmental programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees and assures that the company complies with applicable federal and state health, safety, and environmental laws, regulations, and standards by embracing current standards and embracing new technologies.
The Regional EHS Manager will report directly to the Director of Safety and work closely with business unit leaders and location supervisors daily.
Will require up to 25% travel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads efforts to develop and maintain a safety culture to improve the safety & health of all employees.
- Support processes to ensure continuous improvement in our safety performance.
- Provide interpretation and fosters compliance with regulatory standards.
- Actively work to implement business improvements to reduce workplace accidents and incidents.
- Assist regional management team in implementing safety initiatives and complying with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Provide oversight of the region’s incident investigation process.
- Analyze incident data to identify prevention programs to positively impact incident trends.
- Conduct Job Safety Analysis on new or changing functions to ensure jobs may be performed while following all required safety procedures.
- Continuously evaluate PPE and ensure employees have the best options available fitting the needs of the job.
- Drive daily employee engagement and involvement in safety programs, training, committees, team meetings, etc.
- Conduct occupational health, safety, and environmental training at various sites
- Conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices, and provide advice and counsel concerning all city, state, and federal compliance regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of comprehensive recommendations for corrective actions to eliminate or minimize potential or existing hazards.
- Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, and procedures with recommended changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents.
- Establish and maintain a good working relationship with region and location management, safety professionals, supervisors and team members.
- Other duties as directed by the Director of Safety.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences, or a related field is preferred. Additional knowledge and understanding of all applicable federal and state regulations and standards is required.- 4+ years of relative work experience in progressively responsible positions, with safety emphasis, manufacturing environment experience preferred.
- Prior work experience in a union environment preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of delivering hands-on health, safety, and environmental training; and the ability to implement and coordinate comprehensive health, safety, and environmental programs.
- Organized, analytical problem-solver with an above average ability to communicate and enact teamwork and facilitate successful change management.
- Familiar with lean manufacturing principles preferred.
