REGIONAL INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN Job at Metal Sales Manufacturing Corporation
Summary:
The position is responsible for various hands-on maintenance and technical support of equipment for 7 manufacturing locations throughout the southern region (Texas to Florida). Once trained, this role will travel frequently to support maximum equipment uptime at seven manufacturing locations. The successful candidate will work to establish an action item list, track progress, and communicate effectively with multiple plants to ensure actions are completed in a timely manner. This role also supports capital equipment decisions and some minor vendor management.

You’ll be responsible for (but not limited to):
- Performing and assisting locations with installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of plant equipment; including metal roll forming lines, hydraulic presses, powered mechanical folders, cranes, shears, slitters, forklifts, etc.
- Frequently traveling (both planned and unplanned) to support maximum equipment uptime throughout the North region
- Utilizing lockout tagout procedures and all other safe practices while working on equipment, and testing equipment for safe operation
- Assessing need for new equipment; providing specifications and rationale, and participating in vendor selection and approval process
- Setting up and installing equipment associated with new systems/manufacturing lines
- Supporting tooling/equipment vendor reviews
- Ensuring all plants within the region are following Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) strategy/plan/process, supporting “Asset Essentials” CMMS system
- Ensuring training is assigned and completed by MSMC Maintenance personnel within the region and assigning new training as applicable, supporting “Vector Solutions” training system
Job Requirements:
The most qualified candidates will have:
- Ability and desire to travel 75% of the time or possibly more depending on needs and time of year.
- Minimum 3 years of hands on maintenance and electrical technical experience in a machine shop environment demonstrating good mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problem-solving ability
- Associate degree or certifications in a technical/manufacturing field (not required, but a definite plus)
- Steel processing industry experience highly desirable, such as experience with roll forming and press brake machines and controllers/HMI’s
- Sound math and problem-solving skills
- Positive can-do attitude with a strong desire to continuously learn
- Ability to take initiative and manage multiple tasks, being highly energized, self-motivated, and capable of working with little direction
- Good driving record
