JOB SUMMARY

Primary responsibility is to expand market share in the trade channel via selling through wholesale distributors, directing manufacturer’s representative activities, and implementing sales and marketing directives for the complete line of Electrical and Lighting products in assigned territory. This is a hands-on position that involves direct selling engagement as well as directing others. Will be personally involved in the selling process, responsible for the sales plan, managing our manufacturer’s representative structure and achieving revenue targets. The position will also drive expansion by recommending product mix and product line extension by specifying the product requirements and market opportunity for development by Morris’s product management and marketing personnel. Building and developing new and existing customer relationships will be foundational activities in growing the business. The ability and desire to travel and meet with customers by conducting sales calls with third party sales representatives on a regular basis is required. Ideal candidate will be based in the Western US, with easy access to the territory via direct flights. Preferred locations would include Denver, Phoenix, and Salt Lake City. Territory includes Western US states of AK, WA, OR, CA, AZ, NM, CO, UT, WY, ID, and MT.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

· Increase sales of Morris Electrical and Lighting products through the wholesale distribution channel by calling on wholesale distributor corporate & branch locations.

· Manage and direct manufacturer’s representative activities to grow the target market channel.

· Meet or exceed established sales budgets.

· Identify, recommend, and assist the Morris product management & sourcing team by recommending high value products that expand our product portfolio.

· Direct special pricing quotes for the product range to inside sales.

· In conjunction with the Morris marketing team and sales management, implement regional & national marketing plans.

SKILLS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to work in a fast paced, high volume environment, and have a strong attention to detail. Must be a proactive “self-starter” who can work well without supervision. Must possess professional selling and persuasive communication skills which come through in one–on-one and group presentations, adept listening & questioning skills, excellent follow-up skills and organizational skills to set call plans and manage independent manufacturers’ representatives. Ability to reach decision makers and gain commitment. Needs to have strong technical knowledge of electrical products and LED lighting products. Familiarity with wholesale distributor customers in the U.S. electrical market is strongly preferred. Microsoft Office suite of products including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint a must, other general computer skills are valuable. Four year college degree required. Five years of selling in a related industry required. Prior experience of working with 3rd party manufacturer’s reps is strongly preferred.

INTER-RELATIONSHIPS

Direction is given by the Sales Director of the Electrical business. Regular interface with all levels of corporate employees and contact with field management. Primary interface with external customers and third party sales representatives. Provide direction and coordination of third party sales representatives who work on behalf of the company (but are not company employees).

WORKING CONDITIONS

Primary travel to various sales agent and distributor locations within assigned territory in the Western US, based near large airport with access to entire territory to minimize connections. Attend sales conferences and trade shows as needed. Must have ability to travel in assigned territory up to 85% of the time. Time spent in the office will be in a smoke-free, professional office environment. May work from remote location (home office) depending on territory location. Standard workweek is 40 hours, with ability to work overtime when needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have ability to use hands and fingers to complete tasks quickly and efficiently. In addition, must have the ability to move freely throughout the facility without physical limitation, and capacity to sit for long periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs., and have the ability to bend, stoop and reach.
