Texas Health Heart & Vascular Hospital is a separately licensed hospital located on the campus of Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital. We are a 47 bed facility including a 20 bed Cardiovascular ICU and a 27 bed cardiac telemetry unit. Texas Health Heart & Vascular Hospital is accredited for Chest Pain through The Joint Commission. We have achieved AHA’s Gold Plus award for five years in a row plus AHA’s Gold Plus award for Heart Failure, 5 Star rating by CMS, and Platinum Performance rating from ACC’s National Cardiovascular Data Registry. We specialize in CABG and Valve surgeries, thoracotomies, general cardiac including heart failure, cardiomyopathies, AMI, TAVR, Impella, and heart catheterizations including angioplasty, stenting, and electrophysiology studies.

Job Description


Management of Daily Department Activities
1. Uses behavior events interviewing method for interviews and selections of new employees
2. Oversees orientation, training and cross-training of new staff to department, assesses their ability to work independently, and communicates policies and procedures to staff
3. Implements and monitors performance evaluation procedures, establishes professional development goals, and counsels staff on an ongoing basis as appropriate
4. Establishes systematic workflow and communication among all areas of radiology and nursing, and ensures adequate coverage of all shifts including vacation schedules, absenteeism and turnover
5. Supervises all aspect of the department's operation in the absence of the Director
6. Works in conjunction with modality team leaders to update radiology policy and procedure manuals, emergency and disaster plans
7. Evaluates and updates all department job descriptions, conducts and reviews performance appraisal processes

Manages the Performance Improvement Process
1. Establishes, designs and monitors quality measurement activities for both patient related and technical quality control
2. Reviews technical standards on a regular basis and recommends changes as appropriate
3. Compiles and presents data from quality assurance programs as requested by Director
4. Identifies and recommends performance improvements
5. Investigates complaints, Situation and Unusual Occurrence reports regarding patient care utilizing age specific criteria
6. Cooperates and coordinates with other managers in facilitating communication flow and procedures between technical, clerical, support staff, students and other departments
7. Plans, coordinates and supervises projects including renovations

Manages the Quality Control Program
1. Arranges for service of equipment, monitors the suitability of repairs, and verifies documentation of equipment service report
2. Liaises with service companies to ensure routine equipment maintenance are completed
3. Ensures that standards of practice, technical quality, technique charts or protocols, patient and PACS documentation are correct
4. Ensures compliance with EPA, JCAHO, OSHA, TDH, and hospital and department standards for safety, infection control, department aesthetics and equipment performance.
5. Liaises with regulatory inspectors during their inspection of the department

Purchasing and Financial Responsibilities
1. Plans, initiates and approves all equipment service, purchase requisitions and invoices
2. Coordinates, processes, and analyzes equipment CER requests
3. Establishes and manages tracking mechanisms for cost analysis all department spending
4. Assists with using financial and material resources, prepares monthly statistical reports, projects patient volumes and forecasts revenue and expenses

Strategy, Collaboration and HRO:
Responsible for the implementation and evaluation of the Nursing Strategic Plan and for contributing to the Hospital Strategic Plan.
Responsible for facilitating the development of a unit specific plan that reflects the THR and entity strategy.
Participates in promoting collaborative staff/physician relationships to enhance physician engagement.
Responsible for participating and contributing to the community involvement/visibility of the hospital and entity.
Promotes culture of a Highly Reliable organization.

Bachelor's Degree Nursing Required
Or
Associate's Degree Accredited school of Radiologic Technology Required

Experience
5 Years clinical experience Required
and
3 Years progressive leadership experience Required
Cath Lab Experience Strongly Preferred
EP experience Preferred
Nursing Experience Preferred

Licenses and Certifications
RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
Or
ARRT - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Upon Hire Required
And
CMRT - Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist Upon Hire Required
And
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support with in 90 Days of hire Required
And
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
