POSITION SUMMARY: The purpose of this job is to provide assistance to therapists as part of a team under the direction of a PT, OT or SLP.
POSITION DUTIES:
- Assists therapists with treatment: Provides physical assistance to the PT, OT, and ST staff when providing patient care. Provides appropriate treatment under supervision of therapist. Follow up with therapist following treatment. Seeks clarification of instructions if needed. Notifies therapist of patient's response to treatment.
- Facilitates and maintains a safe environment for patients and others: Follows established infection control guidelines. Cleans equipment per manufacturer's recommendations. Follows schedule for cleaning and maintenance of equipment and supplies, documents when completed. Logs temperatures on required devices where required; notifies supervisor of any discrepancies. Participates in department and program meetings and inservices. Attends all mandatory meetings.
- Follows schedule provided by Supervisor: Communicates schedule conflicts to supervisor in a timely manner. Demonstrates flexibility when confronted with unanticipated schedule changes or departmental needs. Communicates with supervisor regarding time available for assistance in other areas. Maintains inventory of supplies for OT, PT, and ST: Monitors supply level and reports low inventory to supervisor. Distributes supplies to appropriate locations within the department.

Basic Life Support-HCP. CPI, Required at or before Orientation.
Skills: Communication skills, ability to follow written and verbal directions, ability to give reports to therapists, ability to work as a part of a team
Physical Demands: Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
