Summary

The Reinstatement Representative is responsible for preventing losses through maximizing reinstatement of repossessed and impounded vehicles. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, analysis of reinstatement options on an account by account basis, and persuading customers to reinstate. All position responsibilities are to be completed in compliance with United Auto Credit policies and procedures as well as all state and federal regulations including all requirements of the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assess repossession/impound account status for reinstatement options through application of appropriate tools. (i.e., payment, extension, rolling of fees, installation of GPS)
  • Initiate contact with customers following repossession and/or vehicle impound to determine the customers’ intentions, and advise customers of options related to reinstatement.
  • Process vehicle releases and extensions related to approved reinstatements.
  • Initiate contact with agents for vehicle location and release dates.
  • Coordinate GPS installation and vehicle releases through vehicle auctions.
  • Responsible for maintenance of accurate and up to date information in the customer’s account file.
  • Responsible for proper and timely completion of all paperwork related to the reinstatement process, and ensuring retention of all documentation in Nautilus.
  • Responsible for documentation of all contacts and reinstatement activity on appropriate accounts in the SHAW system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Must have a solid recent work history.
  • Clear, concise and professional written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation, problem solving, and probing skills that are utilized in a professional manner.
  • Good telephone communication techniques and ability to be on the telephone for long periods of time.
  • Detail-oriented and strong organization skills.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task to complete daily tasks while handling both incoming and outgoing calls.
  • Must have flexibility to work scheduled hours between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. and weekends as needed.

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of repossession laws and FDCPA requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Language Ability

· Ability to clearly and effectively communicate in person, in writing and by telephone.

· Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus.

Computer Skills

Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office applications, internet skills, and the ability to utilize web based research tools/search engines.

Physical Demands

The Reinstatement Representative position requires the ability to sit at a desk for extended periods while initiating and receiving phone calls and documenting the results of those calls in the company’s computer system. Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
