JOB SUMMARY
The Release of Information Specialist is responsible for supporting the organization by obtaining records from other healthcare organizations, processing referral requests, maintaining ROI documents in the electronic health record, providing support to the release of information vendor and processes all disability and FMLA forms. This position will also process all restriction, amendment and accounting of disclosure requests.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
Minimum Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred/Optional:
- Completion of medical terminology course
EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required:
- Three years in health care setting, preferably in HIM department and/or release of information
- Experience with electronic health record systems
- Completion of medical terminology course within one year of hire
Preferred/Optional:
- Previous experience with worker’s compensation and disability claims
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
