POSITION: CQE Team Lead

STATUS: Full-time, Exempt

REPORTS TO: Sr. CQE Team Lead& CQE Department Director

SUMMARY: First responder / point of contact for assigned coding and client teams, monitors proper chart flow, coding turn around time, coding productivity, and client services for assigned accounts. Conducts scheduled internal coding audits in accordance with the NAI Compliance Audit Policy, provides written summarized reports of audit results, identified individual coder and/or companywide topics for follow-up education, serves as a coding education and training resource point person for assigned coding team. This position may work remotely from home.

Key Functions:

· Serves as first point of contact for daily communications with assigned coders

· Monitors assigned client/hospital chart flow on a daily basis. Shift staffing to address volume changes as necessary to achieve client contracted turn-around times.

o Identifies client specific chart flow/access time lines

o Identifies and communicates chart flow/access issues to CQE and Operations Directors.

o Requests coding turn around time extensions as appropriate from Sr. Team Lead

o Monitors coding volume and coder productivity levels

· Re-allocates team client assignments as necessary to cover PTO and business closings

· Provides timely coding account updates to Sr. Team Lead along with CQE & Operations Department Directors

· Notifies Operations Director with a cc: to CQE Manager and Sr. Team Lead in a timely manner with any operational concerns (i.e., IT, HR, etc.)

· Provides direct coding services if needed/required to meet client coding turn around times and/or close out as directed by Sr. Team Lead

· Completes a weekly touch point with coders by telephone / video

· Completes a weekly touch point call with clients via telephone / video

· Ability to coach and connect with team members

· Performs and conducts scheduled internal audit reviews in accordance with NAI compliance plan, applicable government payer, commercial payer, LCD rules / regulations and the client coding profile.

· Provides training, education and audit reviews for the following:

o New hires

o Transition coders

o New client on-boarding

o Monthly and quarterly client and coder quality assurance (QA)

o Trend / focused QA (i.e., E/M, procedures, etc.)

o Special projects as assigned

· Communicates with Coding, Quality & Education management team to provide recommendations for all coder assignments

· Communicates specific coder feedback to address coding variances identified in each audit review

· Coordinates audit follow up with coders as needed

· Document individual coder acuity and accuracy rate

· Notifies Coding Quality management team when coder reviews do not meet compliance standards

· Identifies and communicates individual coder and/or companywide coding topics for focused follow up education

· Provides cumulative written reports to Coding Quality & Education Manager of audit activity and accuracy rates

· Provides recommendations to Sr. Team lead and CQE Department Director to address coding and/or documentation trends and improvements identified through the audit analysis process

· Provides Client Services

o Ensures deficiency trackers are completed by assigned coding team each shift

o Assists in providing research for client inquiries

Education/Experience by Specialty: Minimum 5 years PREFERRED

· Emergency Medicine Professional and/or

· Emergency Medicine Professional & Facility and/or

· Emergency Medicine Free Standing (FSED) and/or

· Urgent Care or Physician’s Office and/or

· Hospitalist

Certificates and Licenses:

· Minimum one core foundational certification:

o CPC, CCS-P, COC

o CIC, CCS

o RHIT, RHIA

Current certification/license must be maintained with information provided to Nicka & Associates to be included as part of personnel records

Computer Skills: Excellent computer aptitude and proficiency for working in a variety of IT programs and systems; MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel. Proficient in multiple EMR/EHR’s.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Logistics aptitude for determining when/how to reallocate coder/client assignments within team to meet a temporary need.

Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

Other: Strong math aptitude and logistics skills. Excellent professional written/verbal communications and organizational skills. Demonstrated instructional aptitude with professional interpersonal skills required.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
