NARA Northwest is hiring Residential Assistants (RA) for our Residential Treatment program in Gresham, OR. This position is perfect for those individuals considering a career in social work. RA's are responsible for attending to all client-related daily living activity needs during their scheduled work shift. This includes monitoring youth residential clients and completing all relevant documentation and making appropriate referrals. Day, Swing, and Graveyard shifts are available.

OVERVIEW OF ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Provide client support as required.
  • Facilitate client medication call, maintain all medication sheets, and document proper distribution of medications.
  • Notify counselors of client’s progress or problems.
  • Facilitate medication administration to youth as indicated; maintain medication administration records (MAR) and properly document distribution of all prescribed, over-the-counter, and as needed medications.
  • Follow 42-CFR part 2, HIPAA, OAR’s, and all other privacy and confidentiality guidelines for youth receiving treatment services.
  • Keep daily log of pertinent events.
  • Make appropriate referrals.
  • Maintain facility in a clean, orderly fashion while on duty.
  • Do regular sweeps of facility, poison checks, client checks, and ground checks.
  • Follow orientation procedures for all new admissions or re-admissions.
  • Supervise clients’ weekly cleaning duties.
  • Attend staff meeting as assigned.
  • Maintain client confidentiality in conformance with the program guidelines and federal law.
  • Attend relevant training as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Understanding of 12-step philosophy.
  • Ability to treat youth clients and staff with respect and dignity.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with youth clients and staff members.
  • Experience in substance use/abuse treatment with youth essential and considered a plus.
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
  • Reliable Transportation (public transportation not available).
  • Current driver’s license.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Ability to maintain professional healthy boundaries with clients and staff members, and treat each individual with respect and dignity.
  • Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community is a plus.
