This is a 4-10 shift. Ten hours per day with a four-day workweek.

We're looking for a Juvenile Rehabilitation Residential DBT Specialist to join our team to teach residents and staff Dialectical Behavior Therapy ( DBT) skills, as we work toward the common goal of eliminating child and youth outcome disparities based on race and ethnicity. The Opportunity (Temporary PS3):
We need your leadership and motivation Greenhill School to provide expert-level individual and group-based DBT and trauma treatment and skills training, and Clinical Leadership to the program team. You will take responsibility for the delivery of all modes of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (Individual Counseling, Skills Groups, Staff Consultation Team) for young people demonstrating emotional, cognitive and/or behavioral disorders. You will also support program staff with program and treatment goals and the enhancement of therapeutic living environments.

Some of what you will do:
  • Provide in-person individual counseling based on established standards of DBT.
  • Co-lead DBT skills training with program staff.
  • Support the skills development of program staff who assist with groups.
  • Provide behavioral case management and counseling supports to include supervision interventions to young people in the program, including clients with a complex range of co-occurring disorders and treatment needs related to sexual offending, cognitive impairment and medical fragility. Conduct interviews and administer/interpret screens tools and assessments to determine risk, required level of care/supervision, and referral for services.
  • Support Residential Counselors and other program personnel regarding the execution of treatment plans and in support of the Environmental Adherence of the residential program.
  • Coordinate with inter-disciplinary clinicians, family members, agency staff, community partners, and Reentry Team members to support case management, reentry processes and continuity of care.
  • Provide demonstrated fidelity to Quality Assurance (QA) standards, and satisfactory progress with QA performance improvement plans.
  • Provide trauma interventions as needed and directed in partnership with mental health professionals.
  • Provide verbal de-escalation intervention with youth as needed, and provide guidance and leadership for program staff on safe and therapeutic crisis intervention and de-escalation approaches.
  • Maintain safety, recognize and assess problem situations, and intervene to maintain order within a secure juvenile justice treatment milieu.
  • Perform routine security duties including headcounts, living unit building security checks, key control, room searches for contraband, pat and/or strip searches of youth, assist in search and apprehension of escapees.
  • Supervise and assign chores within a living unit to meet health and hygiene standards.
  • Supervise and/or serve meals to resident groups; monitor movement of residents to and from central dining areas, school, medical, and recreation facilities; transport youth to community appointments as necessary.

What we are looking for:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Public Health, Psychology, Mental Health, Healthcare Administration or a related field, and two years of experience in the juvenile justice or social service field providing therapeutic or rehabilitation services with clients from diverse backgrounds who have complex needs.

Associate’s Degree in Social Work, Public Health, Psychology, Mental Health, Healthcare Administration or a related field, and four years of experience in the juvenile justice or social service field providing therapeutic or rehabilitation services with clients from diverse backgrounds who have complex needs.

In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:
  • Previously obtained Master’s Degree in Social Work, Public Health, Psychology, Mental Health, Healthcare Administration or a related field.
  • Professional experience with cognitive behavioral interventions in a social services or treatment setting. Demonstrable experience and ability to apply principles, skills and practice of DBT.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skill with assessment and treatment applications of best-practice principles and strategies associated with trauma-informed and culturally responsive treatment, cognitive-behavioral theory, social learning theory, and mindfulness-based practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work effectively with all levels of employees. Able to convey a positive and professional image to employees and external stakeholders. Ability to develop and maintain proactive business relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology to improve efficiency, accuracy, quality and communication of clinical work.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and personal insight about racial justice, system inequity, disparities and disproportionality in legal systems, and the post-traumatic impact of racial discrimination.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Demonstrated ability to coach and support others. Skilled in supporting staff development, conflict resolution and team cohesion.
