Restaurant Floor Manager - The Golf Club Job at Chelsea Piers
The Opportunity
The Golf Club at Chelsea Piers is Manhattan's most popular destination to learn, practice, and play golf. In 2020, we opened the Water Hazard Bar + Lounge, featuring fast-casual dining, appetizers, and a variety of beer, wine, and specialty cocktails. Boasting views of the Hudson River and an amazing bar, the space is ideal for cocktail parties, receptions, and networking engagements.
The Water Hazard Floor Manager will be tasked with managing the Water Hazard Bar + Lounge. This important role involves duties in operations, team leadership, administration, and financial management.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and oversee consistent and accurate Food & Beverage inventory
- Maintain COGS based on figures approved by GM and owners
- Oversee and execute a creative and enticing food & beverage program suited to the style/culture/cuisine of The Water Hazard Bar & Lounge
- Maintain inventories for both food and beverage, engaging in ordering product weekly in conjunction with the Direct Supervisor
- Engage in management meetings: delivering cost and pricing, inventory, beverage specs, staff information, comprehensive reports of our bar program, and any additional information as requested
- Actively assist in all employee recruitment, interviews, and onboarding
- Create and enforce training documents, SOPs, side-work, and bar cleaning schedules
- Enforce zero tolerance policy regarding alcohol consumption on premises, documenting and reporting any policy violation to General Manager
- Hold FOH and BOH staff accountable for standards, policies, and non-negotiables; applying documented disciplinary action and a timeline for improvement or termination when necessary
- Create and distribute training material and all beverage descriptions for FOH staff and kitchen/food description to BOH staff
- Engage in pre-service meetings: conduct informed tastings, communicate any beverage and menu changes, special situations; quiz and enforce a high standard of knowledge among all team members
- Attend weekly and monthly meetings

- Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position
Direct Reports: Water Hazard staff (bartenders, cooks, bussers/servers)
Direct Supervisor: Food and Beverage Director
Work Schedule: 6 days a week in season (April through September) as needed, and 5 days during the offseason (October through November)

Paid Vacation Days Chelsea Piers supports a healthy work/life balance. After sixty (60) days of employment, you will be eligible for fifteen (15) days of paid vacation (prorated in your first year of employment). After five (5) years of service, you will be eligible for twenty (20) paid vacation days per year.
Safe/Sick Time Chelsea Piers will provide you with 1 (one) hour of safe/sick time for every 30 hours worked, up to a maximum accrual of fifty-six (56) hours per calendar year.
401(k) Savings and Retirement Plan Chelsea Piers wants to support your saving goals. After six months of service, you will be eligible to enroll in Chelsea Piers 401(k) program. Chelsea Piers will match 8% of your investment up to a maximum of $2,500 per year. After three (3) years of full-time service, you will be fully vested.
All-Access Chelsea Piers Fitness Membership Your health and wellness are important to us. You will receive a complimentary membership to our renowned health clubs, Chelsea Piers Fitness Chelsea and Downtown Brooklyn. We will also provide spouses and domestic partners of full-time employees with membership at 50% off the current rate.
Tuition Assistance Chelsea Piers supports employees continuing education. After one (1) year of full-time service, you will be eligible to receive tuition assistance paid by Chelsea Piers in the amount of $750 annually for your first five (5) years of full-time employment and $1,500 annually after five (5) years of full-time employment. The education, instruction, or training must be job-related and/or or have the potential to strengthen your skills/knowledge and enhance your performance.
TransitChek Program After sixty (60) days of employment, you will be eligible to participate in the TransitChek program, which allows for the pre-tax purchase of MetroCards or TransitChek debit cards that are used to purchase commuting tickets and passes from transit operators throughout the metropolitan area.
Employee Referral Program We encourage our employees to refer their qualified family and friends to work at Chelsea Piers. For any referral who is hired and stays at Chelsea Piers a minimum of sixty (60) days, you will receive a referral bonus of $500 for full-time hires (minimum 35 hours per week) and $250 for part-time/non-seasonal hires (minimum twenty (20) hours per week). Referrals from managers made for positions in their own department are excluded.
Upon your start date, you will also receive an Employee Venue Usage sheet detailing other exciting employee perks and discounts provided throughout the complex.
Compensation $65,000 annual base salary, potential annual discretionary bonus of up $5,000.
