DLS Express is a mature Chicago area-based company looking for a good safety officer to make sure our fleet is covered. We are medium-sized and need a quality safety officer to help keep our drivers safe! Our headquarters is located in Villa Park IL near O’hare airport (Western Suburb).
Wanted:
- Full-Time Safety Compliance Officer. Note: We have a team of safety assistants who will help you as well.
Salary:
57,200/year to 83,200/year depending on qualifications and experience.
Requirements:
- 2 years of experience as a safety officer, manager, or supervisor.
- FMCSA approved Safety Training Certifications desirable but not required!
- Undergraduate degree preferred; Experience is absolutely considered in lieu of degree.
- For candidates with BA, BS, MS, PHDs, Helpful if the degree is in an HR-related curriculum.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Previous employment verification and Driver applications (MVR PSP etc).
- Inspections of driver qualifications, company equipment, and contractor’s vehicles.
- Logbook monitoring - call, notify, correct, and retrain drivers.
- Distribution of important documents to all drivers.
- Initial emergency response - minor claims, accidents
- Pro Transport Software information processing: Drivers, Units, Trailer, and Accounts
- Maintaining good communication with all drivers.
- Network fleet speed monitoring and response.
- Weather monitoring and alerts as needed.
- DOT inspection response.
- Dispatch notification through Pro Transport and e-mail
- Following accident procedures in case of serious/recordable accident
- Permits, registrations, and insurance.
- IFTA processing.
- Other duties as assigned by Management
Work Experience and Background Requirements:
- 2+ years of working experience in trucking company (previous experience on safety is preferred)
- College education or High School with applicable experience.
- Excellent decision-making ability and judgment.
- Excellent people skills!! We need people who care about their drivers! We don't want robots!
- Experience working with outside agencies (State DOT agencies, local government, law enforcement, etc)
- Must have good knowledge of DOT and other related agency regulations.
- Demonstrate a good understanding of key safety principles in the transportation industry.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and using the Internet.
- Experience with Pro Transport Software is a bonus.
- Experience with Keep Trucking ELD Software is a bonus.
- Knowledge of digital age processing of applicants via DocuSign ect is preferred.
