This new hire will work at McCormick's Technical Innovation Center (TIC) in Hunt Valley, MD. The Health & Safety Coordinator will report to the Chief Science Officer.

Position Overview
Responsible for supporting the Health and Safety program for Hunt Valley R&D. Coordinate health and safety practices and processes in accordance with McCormick Plans and Policies. Assure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and all McCormick safety standards. The role will require both day-to-day tasks and longer-term projects to be completed. Key Responsibilities
Responsible for the development, implementation, and/or evaluation of multiple OSHA-required safety programs to ensure compliance with legal standards and McCormick Policies. These include but are not limited to Emergency Action Plan (EAP), Respiratory Protection, Fall Protection, Bloodborne Pathogens, Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, and the Chemical Hygiene Plan.
Communicate progress toward safety goals and KPIs with the Leadership Team and the Americas Supply Chain (ASC) Safety Team on a weekly and bi-weekly basis, respectively.
Conduct safety inspections of multiple laboratories, pilot plants, and office spaces to include the creation of a formal report and abatement tracking system
Ensure that accident/incident investigations are conducted in a timely manner to include collaboration with the Americas Supply Chain (ASC) Safety Team, root cause analysis (RCA), and the implementation of corrective actions
Oversee outsourcing related to safety initiatives (e.g. consultation for industrial hygiene monitoring, fire protection, etc.)

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental/Occupational Health and Safety or related fields, Master’s Degree preferred
Previous experience (5+ years) as an Occupational Safety and Health Specialist with 1-2 years serving in a management or supervisory capacity (preferred). This role is the internal subject matter expert for Occupational Safety and Health.
Understanding of leading and lagging safety indicators and the use of Safety Data to drive safety initiatives and promote best practices. Computer skills - Microsoft Office Suite Requires strong communication and diplomacy skills with all internal and external stakeholders. Requires the ability to gain trust, confidence, and respect of all internal and external stakeholders. Establish strong working relationships and effective communication with supervisors and employees across the organization. Leadership skills with the ability to influence without a direct reporting structure. Ability to partner effectively with Human Resources and Facilities Management. Experience in ergonomics, fire protection, and industrial hygiene

Preferred Qualifications Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
