Job Title: Tasting Room Sales Associate- Oxnard - Part-Time, Sunday- Thursdays
Shifts: 3:30 to 9:30 or 5:30-9:30 (other shifts too)
$16-18/hour plus tips, plus bonus on wine membership sales
As a Part-Time Tasting Room Sales Associate at the Herzog Wine Cellars Wine Club in Oxnard, CA, you'll have wine knowledge (or similar), exceptional customer service skills, and a proven track record of meeting sales goals. You will have your Fridays and Saturdays free as they are open Sunday through Thursday! They are continuously expanding the boundaries and creating new and exciting wines. From globally distributed brands to boutique programs of under 100 cases, every bottle that wears the Herzog name is produced in the family’s California winery.
What You'll Do:
- Responsible for promoting the sales of wine and non-wine merchandise
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Assist with preparing monthly wine club packages
- Assist with etching and bottle labeling as needed
- Unloading wine cases.
- No supervisory duties
- Tasting Room Associates often work evenings and Sundays, as required.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
- A minimum of one year of relevant experience in a wine tasting room, marketing, public relations, hospitality, or related experience is preferred.
- Greet all visitors immediately when they enter the Tasting Room and provide experiences that build brand loyalty.
- Serve wines in an appropriate manner, which is consistent with Tierra Sur training and standards.
- Manage high-volume wine and merchandise transactions.
- Build relationships with guests to maximize the sale of wine, merchandise, winery tours, and experiences.
- Create opportunities to sell other events, services, and experiences offered on the property.
- Provide guests with background information on wines, merchandise, and the history of Tierra Sur through informal interaction and guided wine tours.
- Present the benefits of the Wine Club programs to guests and contribute to the growth of the Wine Club.
- Effective and appropriate communication
- Successfully manage traffic flow throughout the day, and ensure that guests are being engaged and entertained.
- Prepare Wine Club boxes and shipments as needed.
- Load and unload wine cases as needed.
- Perform etching and bottling labeling as directed.
- Perform opening and closing duties.
- Work as a team with other associates to reach set daily and monthly sales targets.
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and stocked work area.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of principles and practices of the organization
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and experience with POS systems
- Self-starter with the ability to organize and manage several projects simultaneously and exercise judgment in prioritizing and handling responsibilities
- Strict attention to detail, responsiveness, sound judgment, and proactive organization and planning skills.
- Internal and external customer focus, politeness, confidence, tact, patience and diplomacy while dealing with members.

- Ability to maintain a professional and courteous relationship with all members.

- Salary ranges from $16-18/hour plus tips and wine club sales
- Tasting Room Profit Sharing Plan:
- Part-time employees must sign up 6 new memberships/month to qualify
- Payout is based on group sign-ups-6+ wine clubs-$10/for each type of wine club. 46+ wine clubs: $25/world tour, cellar and cigar clubs, $10 Baron. 61 wine clubs: $35/world tour, cellar and cigar clubs, $10 Baron
- 1st year-employee receives 1% of wine club member repeat orders
- Bi-Monthly year-over-year increase in sales
