Summary:
The SUBWAY® Sandwich Artist® greets and serves guests, prepares food and maintains food safety and sanitation standards, as well as handles and processes light paperwork.
Exceptional customer service and team work ethics are the two major components for this position.
This is a part time position, with a maximum of 30 hours.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare food neatly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
- Demonstrate complete understanding of menu items with the ability to explain to guests accurately.
- Exhibit a cheerful and helpful manner when dealing with guests.
- Check products in sandwich unit area and restock items to ensure a sufficient supply throughout shift.
- Balance cash drawer and maintain proper bread inventory. Daily cash drawer difference must not vary by more than $.50, and daily bread count should not vary by more than 2 counts.
- Clean as needed or directed.
- Greet guests and prepare their orders, using Point of Sale (PoS) system and cash register to record order, collect payment, and make change.
- Understand and adhere to all quality standards, formulas, and procedures.
- Accounting for cash flow and inventory during shift.
- Understand and adhere to proper food handling, safety, and sanitation standards while preparing and serving food.
- Maintain professional neat appearance and grooming standards as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
- Perform light paperwork/clerical duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Some High School or equivalent.
- Experience in restaurant environment (preferred)
- Ability to understand and implement written and verbal instruction.
- Must complete all required University of SUBWAY® classes within first two weeks of employment.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work any area of the restaurant when needed and to operate a computerized Point of Sale system and cash register.
- Must be able to stand and/or walk up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to occasionally lift/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead, up to 30 minutes of workday while assisting in stocking/maintaining inventory levels.
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 60 pounds from ground to waist level when assisting in stocking/maintaining inventory levels.
- Ability to bend at waist level with some twisting motions when assisting in stocking/maintaining inventory levels.
- Ability to grasp, reach, and manipulate objects with hands up to 8 hours a day.
- This requires hand-eye coordination and may require bilateral coordination of hands.
Working Conditions:
- Employee performs approximately 95% of work indoors.
- Employee is exposed to intermittent indoor cold temperature extremes when working in walk-in cooler or freezer.
- Employee is exposed to intermittent noise levels (cash register, telephone, music).
- Employee works with minimal direction and periodic supervision.
Equipment, Tools, and Material:
- Employee utilizes the following electronic equipment: telephone, cash register, ovens, proofer.
- Employee utilizes the following manual equipment: bread cart, retarder, slicers, rubber gloves, mop, broom, and degreaser/defoamer.
- Employee handles liquids, cloth, plastic, glass, paper, rubber, and cleaning solvents.
