POSITION OVERVIEW


This Master level clinical position requires a culturally competent, clinically astute individual with excellent interpersonal skills to work in fast-paced middle and high school settings, and community-based mental health collaboration. The School Clinician is responsible for providing trauma informed clinical services to youth in Stoughton Public Schools. The current position would serve students at both the O’Donnell Middle School and Stoughton High School in Stoughton, MA through Brighton Allston Mental Health Association, a Program of Italian Home for Children. School assignments are subject to change. This is a full-time, salaried 10-month position with excellent benefits that is active during the academic year.


The School Clinician works with adolescents in grades 6-12, many that have experienced complex trauma and adversity, which has impacted them socially, emotionally, behaviorally, and/or academically. The School Clinician is also responsible for case management and family consultation services. The School Clinician works closely with the school staff and other treatment providers. The School Clinician is expected to provide the highest quality of care to youth and their families.


The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy to clients who are students at both schools
  • Maintain regular contact with parents/guardians and external collaterals
  • Deliver 4-6 hours of non-billable work weekly (subject to change)
  • Provide clinical perspective to school staff
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary treatment team
  • Attend all required clinical and staff meetings
  • Facilitate intakes in the outreach school program and process all necessary paperwork
  • Complete all required clinical documentation within policy deadlines
  • Learn, implement, and demonstrate an understanding of the agency training and treatment philosophy
  • Evening and weekend clinician on-call duties approximately one week per quarter

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s level degree in the mental health field
  • MA state clinical license (LICSW or LMHC) preferred; license eligible required
  • Bilingual language capacity preferred
  • 1-2 years post-Master’s experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Prior experience working with youth who have social, emotional, and/or behavioral needs
  • Awareness, sensitivity, and respect for cultural differences
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of therapeutic treatment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as computer literacy
  • Strong organizational skills and flexibility
