Position: Science Laboratory Manager

Location: Athens Campus

Department: Division of Life Sciences & Public Safety

Reports to: Divisional Academic Dean

Salary/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. State of Georgia benefits package.

Responsibilities:

  • Order supplies and manages laboratory budget for physics, chemistry, biology, microbiology, and bioscience.
  • Manage and supervise laboratory preparation and clean-up.
  • Manage off campus labs at Walton, Elbert, and the Career Academies.
  • Secure price quotes and maintain vendor records.
  • Coordinate chemical waste reduction, storage, and disposal.
  • Coordinate scheduled and emergency service, maintenance, and repair of equipment, instrumentation, and facilities.
  • Maintain microbial stock cultures and cryostorage.
  • Adhere to all rules and regulations stated in the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and to the policies and procedures of the college.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in both General Science and/or Bioscience courses.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in General Science and/or Bioscience related field.
  • Two (2) years of General Science and/ or Bioscience lab coordination.
  • Experience ordering through Team Georgia Marketplace.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
