Core Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise on environmental issues and, in particular, coordinate, oversee, lead, and monitor all technical and regulatory efforts, concerns, issues, questions, and activities associated with Con Edison's natural resource programs.
  • Develop corporate natural resource management procedures, presentations and guidance documents taking into account regulatory requirements and operating concerns. Assist operating departments in developing cost-effective compliance strategies.
  • Provide expert guidance to EH&S staff and operating organizations concerning natural resource and storm water management requirements.
  • Oversee, coordinate, lead, and monitor the performance of special studies in support of the natural resource program's goals and objectives.
  • Act as liaison between EH&S and operating organizations, and interface with government agencies.
  • Evaluate proposed regulations and coordinate preparation of Con Edison comments. Coordinate as necessary with industry groups, such as EEI, USWAG, EEANY, EPRI and the NYS Business Council, to ensure that Con Edison's positions are represented.
  • Represent Con Edison on external committees. Coordinate with Con Edison EH&S staff and operating departments to provide input to such committees.
  • Prepare or coordinate preparation of various reports, authorizations, notification, and permit application packages for internal and external submission.
  • Provide expert guidance to engineering, operating organizations and construction organizations concerning regulatory compliance during construction and post construction activities.
  • Respond to operating department requests for assistance and guidance
  • Provide expert support to Con Edison's training programs.
  • Develop and teach training classes related to natural resource issues and emerging topics
  • When appropriate, correspond with regulatory agencies regarding environmental incidents.
  • Participate in EHS Emergency Resource Mobilization during emergencies
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree Engineering, Biology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related field and 5 years EH&S experience with a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Natural Resource regulations.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Master's Degree Related field

Relevant Work Experience

  • Experience managing multiple projects Required
  • Strong oral and written communication skills Required
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills Required
  • Demonstrate familiarity and proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and database packages. Required
  • Experience with ArcGIS Preferred

Licenses & Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

Other Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
