Position Summary:

The Scientist I (Dengue) will report to the Manager of Research and Development and provide research support to the dengue vaccine development team. The primary role of the Scientist I is to collaborate and assist the dengue vaccine development team with information gathering, conducting experiments, and contributing to presentations and written reports. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology, immunology, or protein chemistry. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, as this role will work on an interdisciplinary team and actively collaborate across multi-functional groups to develop and implement new technologies into production. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced and shifting environment is essential.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Performs experiments and analysis while following established standard operating procedures (SOP) and protocols

• Provides limited experimental design and may perform troubleshooting activities

• Interprets data to provide conclusions that lead to program advancement

• Works under direct supervision of the project lead and collaborates with other senior staff to advance programs through identified milestones

• Records all experiments in laboratory notebook/online recording system

• Prepares briefings, project reports, presentations, and other project deliverables utilizing a variety of computer software including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, SnapGene, and GraphPad Prism.

• Works on one or more programs performing varied tasks

• Assists training of new staff as required

Education and Experience:

• Ph.D degree from an accredited college or university in biology/molecular biology, immunology, virology, chemistry, or related field is required

• Minimum two years’ experience in the industry

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

• Work environment requires following basic safety precautions.
