Job Title: Scrum Master
Reports To: Director, Agile Practices
Position Summary:
As a Scrum Master within the CareMetx technology organization, you’ll act as a servant leader in guiding one or more teams in effective Agile delivery. Our Scrum Masters are open, approachable, collaborative, and enjoy working with passionate people to deliver valuable solutions to complex problems. They are proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and working with the team and broader organization to drive continuous improvement. Facilitation, servant leadership, and analytical skills are key to this role.

You will partner with Product, Program management, and other key stakeholders to build discipline within an inclusive, transparent delivery process which breaks down barriers and bridges the gap between business and technology. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as Scrum Master in providing servant leadership and coaching to 1-2 Agile delivery teams within a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment
  • Partner with Product to help the team(s) maintain healthy backlogs
  • Create an environment of collaboration within the teams that allows for open dialogue and productive solutioning
  • Communicate and collaborate around impediments, risks, and dependencies which jeopardize commitments and/or predictable, frequent delivery of working tested software
  • Manage delivery team metrics and partner with product and program management around performance relative to current planning & capacity management
  • Coach team(s) and organization around effective, predictable Agile delivery – e.g. user story writing, sizing, backlog management, cross-functionality, etc.
  • Helps build high-performing teams, build a shippable product, and is responsible for leading predictable Agile delivery to support various upstream and downstream teams
  • Serves as the servant leader for the team to ensure clear communication and organization of the team
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies for the delivery teams including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint retrospectives, sprint demos, etc.

Education and Experience Qualifications:
  • Experience within the Scrum Master providing servant leadership and social engineering to Agile delivery teams for three (3) or more years. Five (5) or more years of related experience is desirable
  • Expertise within providing servant leadership for teams to deliver effectively and predictably
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing analytical skills to drive creative solutions to complex problems
  • Demonstrated excellence within servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Ability to manage work in a highly technical, changing environment
  • Agile/scrum master certification would be nice to have
  • Demonstrated understanding for the value and applications of incremental delivery and a disciplined metrics strategy in driving predictable delivery
  • Experience in partnering with Product, Engineering, Program Management, and others in delivering end-to-end solutions that consistently meet client needs
  • Understanding for broader engineering and/or business processes, tools, and techniques that can be leveraged and applied to bring value to the team and/or organization
  • Demonstrated experience ensuring that the technical expectations of deliverables are met through Agile processes; additionally, support the continuous improvement of those processes

Minimum Skills, Knowledge and Ability Requirements:
  • Overall 5+ years of experience in Agile software development/delivery
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in scrum master role
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Experience in guiding new teams in establishing and continuously improving Agile delivery practices and tools
  • Ability and desire to add value in a highly innovative and empowering setting
  • Experience in utilizing Jira/Confluence (or other Agile work management systems) to centralize, track, and measure information pertaining to how the team delivers value into the organization
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and interface with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience appropriately escalating issues to management as necessary/needed.
