Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Logistics Manager 3. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will have overall management responsibility of the packaging, shipping and transportation operations for the SDS Division. Responsible for managing teams across multiple sites and supporting multiple programs.

What you will get to do:

  • Responsible for controlling the efficient flow of goods, services, and information between point of origin through customer placement to meet customer requirements.
  • Ensures that customer service and time objectives are achieved within existing financial constraints to meet program and financial objectives.
  • Ensures the execution and continuous improvement of standard logistics processes, such as the replenishment system, data interchange systems, demand management, electronic data systems administration and related functions.
  • Builds relationships with strategic customers through logistics initiatives.
  • Integrates learning from customers, competitors, operating entities, distribution, transportation, customer service, other industries, industry groups, and professional training to continuously improve competitive position.
  • Strategically plan and manage logistics, shipping, transportation, and customer services.
  • Keep track of quality, delivery times, transport costs and efficiency.
  • Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
  • Responsible for 3PL carrier selections, rate and contracts negotiations with carriers, and keep up-to-date on shipping carriers, routes and rates and any changes to them.
  • Local and long-haul transportation responsibility.
  • Ensuring that compliance with all federal and state regulations, as well as security requirements, regarding shipping and transportation is met.
  • Functions as an advisor to the team regarding tasks, projects, and operations. Becomes actively involved in daily operations only when required to meet schedules or to resolve complex problems.
  • Responsible for the direct supervision/management of the staff. Providing objective-oriented direction to subordinates utilizing management guidelines & general policies. Responsibilities include planning and performance addressing cost, schedule, and quality of the transportation and packaging operations.
  • Participate in proposal and planning projects by analyzing transportation/fleet requirements and supporting the development of best processes for accomplishing objectives of transportation and delivery.
  • Manage direct and indirect budget requirements and all other related administrative, training and personnel issues.
  • Provide oversight in the packaging engineering and shipping functions, as well as material handling in a production environment.

These positions will have a standard work schedule of 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8 years of related experience or a Master’s Degree and 6 years of related experience or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree
  • At least 3 years in a formal lead/management position to include performance reports for direct reports.
  • 3 years of experience in logistics and distribution functions.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance and Special Access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in a Supply Chain Management.
  • 2 years of experience with SAP enterprise resource planning software.
  • Experience with material handling of NWRM
  • Familiar or have experience with AFI 20-110
  • Experience with regulations and company policies governing transportation activities and assuring full compliance.
  • Knowledge of booking shipments in Ryder Domestic Transportation Management System or similar system.
  • Ability to work across disciplines to influence change to improve operational efficiency
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Experience supporting complex shipping and logistical requirements, assuring full compliance with regulations and company policies governing transportation activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead safety initiatives to drive a culture of a safety-first environment.
  • Experience in handling and managing transportation for unclassified, classified and ICBM type materials
  • Knowledge of inventory and production control functions, fulfilling work orders for on-time delivery to production floor.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • High degree of creativity and ability to solve a wide range of problems.
  • Active DOD Secret Clearance within the last 5 years.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project)


Salary Range: $110,900 USD - $166,300 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
