Summer Student
Inflammatory cell action in human benign prostatic hyperplasia
Scope of Work
Student will work on a project related to the activity of inflammatory cells in benign prostatic hyperplasia. The work will involve isolation of monocytes and macrophages from tissue samples using enzymatic digestion and cell sorting approaches. Isolated cells will be applied in vitro to assess their role in promoting proliferation and phenotypic changes in target epithelial and stromal lines.
Duties
Under supervision:
Prepare tissue and perform enzymatic digestion
Prepare and sort cells
Perform in vitro proliferation assays
Determine phenotypic changes using immunofluorescence
Record keeping
Presentation of data generated
