- Understand the Michigan Academic Standards, Benchmarks, and Grade Level Content Expectations for Science.
- Responsible for creating a classroom environment conducive to learning with programs appropriate for maturity, interest and ability of students at all educational levels
- Knowledge of Research based instructional practices.
- Demonstration of effective integration of technology into instruction.
- Plan a program and lessons that ensure students achieve learning objectives and curriculum goals.
- Use a variety of instructional methods, including technology, and materials appropriate to the students and learning.
- Ability to integrate real-world application within the learning environment.
- Build a safe and productive classroom culture that fosters student responsibility for personal items and science equipment.
- Positive relationships are evident, procedures are clear, and the classroom is safe and secure for learning to unfold. Student and teacher interactions promote a growth mindset and student-leaders are cultivated.
- Demonstration of effective classroom management techniques
- Consistently develop strong relationships with students’ families while diligently informing parents of expectations, positive news, and/or concerns about their children. Provide opportunities for parents to be involved at the school.
- Actively participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) with colleagues to improve teaching and student learning. Reflect on instruction and leadership while contributing ideas, expertise, and time to the mission and goals of the school. Maintain an accurate science equipment inventory.
- Committed to high academic achievement, and high expectations for all students.
- Able to be a positive team player and communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, students, and families.
- Open to being coached and receiving feedback to advance learning and growth for students.
- Professional with high personal standards and integrity.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited College or University or be upcoming graduates in an accredited teacher preparation program. If you hold a teaching license in another state, you must apply for a Michigan teaching license.
